bathroom company sold me unsuitable shower mixer

Called in at local bathroom retailer to purchase new bath and shower.
salesman advised me on which shower mixer I needed, to be compatible with a combi Boiler.
Collected it 3 weeks later.
Phoned them the next day to say there was a part missing from the shower mixer. They said they would check in stores and phone me back.
They phoned 15mins later to say part was in stores and then advised me the shower mixer needs a water pressure of 3 bar and was not suitable for a combi boiler system. They said they had a suitable mixer and it would be £530 more.Don't know where I stand. Do I have to pay the extra or do they have to supply me the correct mixer at their cost?

What is the make and model of shower? Most combis can supply ample hot water for most mixer showers

  • I smell BS there isn't a shower mixer on the market that reqs 3 bar to work, if you have a combi boiler you already have what is known as high pressure, what's the make & model of the shower you bought & they now say isn't suitable ?
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

It must be a hell of a shower, multiple nozzles or something. Or else BS.

  • Make is burlington bt2ds thermostatic shower mixer, its a traditional looking set up.It does say on burlington web site that model i have needs
    a pressure of 3 bar
The replacement is same looks but can run on lower pressure and more expensive
I'm a bit baffled why they have decided the mixer i have is now unsuitable.
My plumber thinks it will be ok.
I initially wanted a non thermostatic mixer, but salesman advised me i should have a thermostatic for safety as i have young ones.
They told me i can return the goods for full refund,I want the replacement they suggest at no extra cost to me.

What makes you think you should get the extra shower for nothing?
  • Ok why should I pay the extra, the salesman sold me a shower not fit for purpose
  • I don't want 2 showers just the difference in cost to be at their expense not mine
  • Ok why should I pay the extra, the salesman sold me a shower not fit for purpose

And they have offered to rectify that mistake by allowing you to return it for a full refund.

Why you think you are obliged to the more expensive model for the same price is beyond me.

Pay the extra or return it and go elsewhere.

And you're not going to get it. You are not entitled to this legally or morally.
  • Legally may be,seariously morally is a bit strong,
