i have been travelling MAN-FRA for about 20yrs. the last yr or so has been utterly !!!!!. This year just TAKES THE PROVERBIAL. a direct flight is LESS fuel SO why would i pay over £200 to fly to Scandinavia somewhere which is fine BUT on the way back wait for over 12 or over 24 hours in God knows where. i do NOT get it. i tweeted ABTA of course they are ignoring me. yes but they don't know how persistent i am
you have families sleeping all over airports! The next payment scheme like PPI will be Compensation for people getting ILL because of flight connections over 12hrs!!
Anyone know of an airline that is good for going A-B to see family w/o a too long delay?????
thanks:mad::j

Why did you book a flight with such a long layover? You can't claim compensation for your own choice, and ABTA aren't going to do anything about it either.
Lufthansa offer direct flights on that route. If you choose indirect flights that is no one's fault but your own.0 -
So you booked flights with a long lay over yet you're complaining because of said long lay over?Dwy galon, un dyhead,
Dwy dafod ond un iaith,
Dwy raff yn cydio’n ddolen,
Dau enaid ond un taith.0 -
Sounds a bit of a fruit cake.0

It's nothing to do with ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) which is perhaps why they are ignoring your rather foolish tweets.0

Absolutely nuts0

The cost of flights isn't determined by distance travelled but mostly by demand.
If you want to fly direct from A to B then you generally only have the choice of one or two airlines, therefore they can charge a higher fare.
If you want to go indirect from A to B via C then in order for an airline to attract you the fare they offer has to be less than the direct flight, but also other airlines who could get you from A to B via their "C" airport.
If you want to go indirect then consider KLM via Amsterdam , Air France via CDG, Brussels Airline via - em - Brussels, BA via Heathrow, Swiss via Zurich or SAS via Copenhagen all of whom offer "same day" connections for under £200 even at relatively short notice.0 -
Or Ryanair to Hahn and then the bus. :-)0

Emirates via Dubai would be quicker than the routing you describe.0

What are you talking about? Direct flights can easily be had for £125 return with Lufthansa.0
