Words of encouragement

Options
Hello fellow compers,

I'm not complaining and I'm not looking for magic, but I was hoping for a few words of encouragement.

I've been comping for years, averaging 200 comps a week, but am yet to win a bean.

Tell me it's the taking part that counts, tell me you don't know what's around the corner, tell me not to give up...

I'm so happy for all the winners on here - it really does spur me on to continue, but I think I've hit a brick wall!

Have you entered any to win a bean?

No really just keep at it and your turn will come at some point hopefully sooner rather than later. Maybe if you can up your game a bit as I know some people on here enter more than 200 a day

Thanks diddlydoop. (And no, no actual beans!)

I only enter competitions for prizes that I want, or that I think my friends and family might want. I don't want to take wins away from people who might actually like a particular DVD, book or babygrow!

I know I'm not among the big time compers, but I was hoping for at least a candle or bunch of flowers in the last few years! :-)

Hi lnesbitt, sorry to hear that you've not won much, unfortunately there are people that win every other competition they enter and others could enter triple the amount of competitions and not win anything.
    **********

    Are you on social media?
    Facebook
I have found Facebook competitions (Craft pages and other groups on Facebook) is where my highest rate of winnings have come from. If you enter some in closed Facebook groups, you tend to get less entries due to only members being the only ones that can enter.

    Twitter
I don't get much luck with Twitter, I believe only one or two wins from them after thousands of entries.

    Instagram
With Instagram, I have yet to win from them, although there are a couple of low entries competitions from time to time, so worth entering those.

    Quizonaut

I also find I usually get at least 1 win from Quizonaut a month (always click no thank you when entering) I don't tend to claim the smaller prizes of the mouse mats as they aren't very good quality but I have won Nepresso pod holders and other decent prizes from them.
Plus you have to confirm your entry via email and some people forget this step, so always worth double checking!

    Good Reads
Good Reads is a fab website if you love books or know someone who does, I won the first competition I entered from them and I often see MSE forum members saying that the regularly win from them.

    Gleam and Rafflecopter
Lots of MSE forum compers avoid these types of entries, I've won a few of them and they often say how many entries they have, so it is always extra great if you can spot some with a low number of entries as you have a higher chance of winning.

I wish you all the best, I'm sure you will likely win one soon, well I hope so! Sending positive vibes and winners luck (not that I have much of my own compared to some!)

Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.

    Hi Ms Dee!

Facebook and Twitter, yes. And ones through Rafflecopter, too.

Not the others, though. So thanks for the tips! And thanks for the good wishes, too!

I've just started. Trying to do 20 a day, as a lot aren't worth me going in for. I found I've avoided a lot on social media so this morning set up a dummy Facebook so I'm not flooding friends with comp shares! I started beginning of oct and approx 325 comps a lot ending end of month so hoping for something!!

But it's a bit like fishing - if in 2 years you hadn't caught a single damn fish you'd be feeling pretty low wouldn't you!?

OP, I completely understand how you feel! I've been at it for 2 years too. I won 5 times the first year, nothing exciting but little things that were still great fun to win, but this year only once. I have been at it solidly though! I really don't know what it depends on. I really do think some people are naturally 'lucky', though why or how I don't know!!

Fingers crossed you just haven't won yet because fate has a BIG one in store for you!

OP if you have an entry in (for majority of comps) then you have as much chance of winning as anyone else who has bothered to enter. Your time will come! My advise would be to target local comps as they really do have fewer entries and enjoy searching out opportunities. It can open up all kinds of experiences, for example.... I took a local lady with me to see Footloose on a comp win ticket (very short notice so did a FB, who wants to come post). Now I have had two freebie evenings where she has booked to go to things and can't make it. I have her ticket free in exchange for driving her old ladies into town :) This would never have occurred without comping. I also have someone very local who can have tickets if I can't use them, win win. Wishing you lots of luck!

I agree with all the sound advice above. I think you've been really unlucky to win nothing so far, but as soon as you do win (and you will if you keep entering) you'll be utterly hooked, like the rest of us! let us know when you win! Good luck

I agree with most of the above but have hardly any wins from facebook, this year most of mine have been from goodreads, but only worth it if you like books
