Help - Getting Hastings to pay claim

Please help

Does anyone have any helpful email addresses to escalate a non payment of an agreed valid claim with Hastings.

In a nutshell, car stolen from drive in early August & not recovered.

Settlement value agreed but so far cheque promised twice - two weeks ago!

It has now been 12 weeks of which 4 weeks has been chasing a payment after agreed value.

Any suggestions for next steps apart from legal route? - that will be Monday if not sorted

Experience so far is that they are a bunch of liars

Milton

Try them on twitter or facebook, Hasting tend to speed things up if you contact them on social media.

Is the delay in payment causing you problems?

They have a rep who gets alerted every time a disgruntled customer goes public here.

Then jumps onto the thread to limit the damage

Just hang on and expect a post here wanting to assist you!!
  • Thanks let's hope so ...

12 weeks without a car is causing some issues yes but the real issue is the constant unreliability of Hastings. They make promises to pay then don't ... do far we have been promised that a cheque has been posted 3 times !

We have agree value - just shoddy service that is resulting in issues at the dealer we are getting a replacement from.

It is my father's car - specifically bought due to a hip problem he suffers with but Hastings seems to have of little empathy.

I suspect we will need solicitors to solve it but here's hoping.

If there is no valid reason for the delay, especially if it's costing your father money eg in other transport costs. It may be possible to get some extra compensation out of them

I had a claim with Hastings last year, they were really slow to pay out but they got there in the end, after I complained.

This was the email address I got a complaint response from, she's a customer relations coordinator:
  • Thanks all

Nothing through this post but resolved in a few days by posting the issue on twitter. After a bit of pushing I got an email address of a Media Resolution Manager - he chased up relevant dept and got payment sorted in 48 hrs.

Would recommend the approach to all - just annoyed we didn't do it after the first payment promise 3 weeks ago

Yes fortunately a lot of Insurers have dedicted staff to resolve complaints on social media asap.

Unfortunately customers who are not aware of this may have to endure long waits.

Out of interest, did Hastings give you any compensation for the delays etc

Follow up on this - Hastings have finally done the decent thing and accepted they could have behaved better in the whole process rather than delaying payment / not returning calls.

Paid a small amount of compensation but lessons learned are

    - Don't trust anything Hastings say
    - Chase any settlement relentlessly
    - Submit a formal complaint if they mess you about
    - Post on twitter to get a Resolution Manager - they seem to be able to solve across teams

    And finally ...

DONT INSURE WITH HASTINGS DIRECT IF YOU CAN AVOID IT ... Getting money out of them is a painful and thankless task

Thanks for the update and tips, it could help someone else in your position who googles their problem.

We already know what type of Insurer Hasting are...
