Good luck! You've already made £7000 by sitting tight. Hope it continues upwards.
  • Just sit tight - common sense will prevail.
I know someone who tried this recently and it backfired spectacularly (mortgage expirations and a change in lending requirements)

    Thanks all.

And we are now sold again to original buyer at original price....48 hours of stress I could have done without!

Absolutely ridiculous. But I'm glad you showed that you weren't to be bullied and the buyer has had to come back with tail between their legs! Wonder what Crashy makes of it?

Be prepared for them to attempt this the day of exchange or day before. Make sure the EA understands (and conveys to your buyer) that no such attempts will be tolerated.

Look on the bright side, it will be easier on moving day, no need to clean when you leave.

Thanks again all so glad it has worked out you always worry whether you are right or not! We have told the EA they better not try this again as like we say we will not be folding :)

Finger crossed now nothing else goes wrong!

Haha we had thought about this but that is not who we are. We probably won't be as thorough as before though!

So there was really no downside to the buyer trying this then? They lose nothing, don't even get a virtual slap on the wrist of any indication how scummy it was? If someone had tried to blackmail me for thirteen thousand pounds, I wouldnt even bend down to pick up a crisp packet I'd dropped.

Anyway, good luck let us know how It works out, hopefully all will be well.
