I do not understand why people feel the need to pipe up and question my circumstances etc etc, I didnt ask for anything on that front, I only asked for assistance in where best to direct my letter. Which, as correctly pointed out, was on post #5 (thanks very much.)
Everybody else posting, I hope you all felt better for telling me your feelings on the matter. Give yourselves a pat on the back.0 -

Charmed. I can't see any issue with most of the responses, perhaps other than they weren't what you wanted to hear.0 -
Compo culture, clearly nothing is ever the OPs fault must be the train company, the partner......anyone but them.

You have to expect discussions on a chat forum not a simple answer to your question.
can I ask . Why is it you expect someone else to pay,? rather than the person that lost it0 -

Laughable. Point out where I didnt accept responsibility?
I genuinely dont expect anything from the train company. I have paid twice for the same ticket (my fault) and as a regular train user I am politely requesting any sort of assistance. If they tell me to take a running jump then thats the end of that.
Its a real shame I cant be as perfect as some people at home sat behind a keyboard.0 -
In the unlikely event that the OP manages to locate the original ticket within 28 days of having to buy the replacement, they could try writing to Northern (as the company that manages Blackpool North) and enclose both tickets (remembering to keep a copy just in case the originals get lost in the post) and they MAY consider a refund.0

The ticket purchased at Blackpool North was used.
The ticket purchased from The Trainline was not. Therefore any refund should come from this original company.
But in the interests of discussion ... we only have the OP's word that the original ticket was not used. They have the receipt but not the ticket; somebody else could have the used ticket (e.g. a third family member who only travelled in the return direction).:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

The postal address for Trainline is
The Trainline
PO Box 23970
Edinburgh
EH3 5DA
Be sure to quote your booking reference and provide all possible evidence which you think justifies some compensation.
I recently obtained £6 refunded for a £16 unused ticket, but I did send them the unused ticket, and I did quote the refund reference no. provided by the booking site when I requested the refund.0 -

The OP left the ticket at their hotel. The hotel disposed of said ticket(s). There is no hope the OP can send the unused ticket as it's not in existence.0
