British Gas October Collective and Smart meter installation

Can anyone please give me advice on what to do?
I am on British Gas October Collective and have arranged with BG to have my Smart meters installed on October 27th.
I'm trying to decide whether I should cancel the installation until January next year when the updated meters should become available.
If I waited these new meters will work with any utility supplier. Would it be better to wait or if I changed supplier after October next year would the new suppier fit the new fully compatible type?
Thanks

There is no guarantee BG will launch these new 'any supported supplier' meters next year, with Capita on the scenes, I suspect it will be late 17/early 18 before these meters are available..
You are at no disadvantage from having these meters installed.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
Currently the DCC are building an infrastructure that works only with SMETS2 meters and the SMETS1 meters are not compatible with this.
Eventually the DCC will adopt and replace the early incompatible meters but this will not be a high priority for them, so it makes sense to wait until this long running saga is finally resolved.0
