Did you see the log book before buying? Was it a duplicate replacement one?
I would be wondering if they have a logbook loan on it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Well when you carried out the HPI check did that show all the correct information?. If it was stolen then it would have showed on the HPI check.
If you ever buy a car again always check all the paperwork and as part of a full HPI check you can even check the log book number is valid. You should have also checked that the chassis number matches the log book too.0 -

Not if they stole it recently, owner on holiday etc. It will only show on the HPI when the insurance pay out and they dont report it instantly either.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Well a HPI CHECK comes with a £30,000 guarantee that all the information they give you is correct and up-to-date. So if it turned out to be stolen you can claim your money back using this guarantee.0 -
#15, I'm sure there will be a get out clause for that guarantee along the lines that if it's not been reported stolen, they won't show it as stolen.
Anyhow, I just wanted to post that there can be perfectly innocent reasons for this. The last car I bought was from a teacher. It did not have his current address as he had recently moved. In theory, that should be a red flag but in real life it's never that black and white so judgment is required. I was happy to continue with the purchase and the amount at risk was relatively low. If it had been a £30k transaction, I might have been more nervous.0
