You're doing so well! I too love YNAB, I set aside a bit of my budget for bits that I have to pay out towards the end of the month. I'm always too keen though and start saying I've paid for things before the start of the month and then it all goes wrong!

Do you know it's mental how much money you can fritter away? Just worked out I spent £30 last month on getting car washed! I have arms, a sponge and a bucket so absolutely no need for such expenditure. That £30 can go to debt repayment.
My car gets a wash every New Years Day whether it needs it or not.
  • Thanks everyone for the comments.

This month I have paid a grand total of £454.01 to credit card rather than my usual £250 so I am over the moon about that. That wee penny will make all the difference - shame it's taken me until now to realise this. Also I have savings for the first time in an absolute age. So chuffed with myself. Let's see if I can beat that for November!!

  • PS I treated the car to a wash and hoover for £3 all in rather than the £8 I usually spend. I had some spare change in my pocket!

  • Did you do it yourself in the end?

I need to get my car sorted and washed... I just hate washing the car. It takes me all morning or afternoon because I get OCD. Last time I just decided to have a valet at £25.. Very Un MSE woops!

Great to see you've paid off so much!
Never underestimate the ability of what you can achieve.

Sort of. Used one of those self service jet washes so put a £2 coin in and went really fast! Chamoised it dry. Cleaned the inside and glass along with wheels. Then a £1 coin into the hoover.

  • NSD today again. Managed to survive to the 1st of the month. Going to be doing this from now on to make sure I don't overspend on those 5 week months. Really tired tonight so off to bed early.
    Starting Debt (31 Oct 2016) - £12,956 | Current Debt (31 Jan 2017) - £10,465 (20% paid)
  • Yesterday wasn't a NSD unfortunately as had to buy some food and also put petrol in the car. Today should be a NSD.

Got some expenses back for a work thing and that £72.75 went straight to credit card. Still not received by balance transfer card although it said 7-10 days so hopefully later this week.

  • Well spoke too soon and got my balance transfer card in and transferred the maximum amount from current CC. Should save several hundred pounds in interest which I am chuffed at.

NSD today and unlikely to change. It's cold and dark in Glasgow tonight so don't think I'll be going out the door.
