Are the post office's 2D barcodes sufficient proof of postage?

A bit of further info on this - I received some mail from RM through telling me that my parcel delivery confirmation is now live - which of course I already knew.
But interestingly, and disappointingly, it states that delivery confirmation is only available for parcels and not large letters.
There is no mention of plans to introduce it for large letters at a later date. I feel as though there is a backtrack going on there, I'm pretty sure when they first started advertising delivery confirmation on their website, that it stated delivery confirmation would be available for all 24 & 48 products - now it just says parcels.
A few people have basically told me that it was always only going to be for parcels, but I'm sure I didn't imagine this.
Funnily enough, I actually can access delivery confirmation on a small number of large letters.
Have you heard anything else? .0 -

By that wording,I would read that as the 24 & 48 services.

On the ground, the push is for 2D packets on delivery though many DOs are simply pushing all 2D barcodes.0 -
Does the postman only scan if he knows it's a parcel, in those areas where they're pushing just parcels? Or does he scan every code - a lot of packets can be borderline large letter, it can't be easy to know. Or does the postman scan everything as a matter of course, and then RM only allow the delivery confirmation to be available on those recorded sent as parcels.
I have noticed that when I can view confirmation on large letters, it seems to be post code based rather than random.0 -

How can I speak for 'the' postman?
RM are pushing for parcels to be scanned. This is the drive to the staff.
I'm still in touch with a few folks. Generally in DOs the drive is to scan any 2D barcode.
The DOs don't really get data to stratify but are measured on scanning performance.
So for the DO managers they are pushing scanning all 2D barcodes as scanning performance is part of the KPIs.0 -
The postman are being urged to scan any item with a barcode , but in the real world as more and more barcodes are introduced, to scan and input the relevant data, ie delivered not delivered, reason why not delivered etc. will be more time consuming and with the lack of overtime payment and the pressure to finish the walk on time, I wouldn't envisage every barcode being scanned.0

Has anyone had any luck getting further information from Royal Mail on a 2D bar coded item stuck with the original message "An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item"?Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. If you ask they are usually happy to tell you whether it was scanned at the first mail center but after that I don't think you'll get any further info from them.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
The bit I'm concerned about is there is no scan when put back to the delivery office as undelivered and the overlap between collection and a claim with RM.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. I was under the impression it would say delivery attempted/back at the depot but I'm not sure as I've never seen it.
You could call the buyers local delivery office to see if it's there or request a redelivery online. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

Has the buyer said it has not been delivered?
I have had parcels that still showed that message and never been updated even when I know it has been delivered when buyer left feedback.0
