you would have thought by now the OP should have been "very familiar" with everything they are being told , including 4 months to check acronym explanations , plus the OP makes far too many assumptions instead of checking the actual facts

I am probably of a similar age and used that SMALL CLAIMS in the early seventies to take a car dealer to court with no internet to help me , so as research is easier now, plus with tv programmes like JUDGE RINDER and MARTIN LEWIS (which are both on tomorrow) there are extra information avenues that the OP is not following

the fact that we have the internet means that the OP has easy access to all the information required , but at the moment seems to want to attack those giving advice

I tell it like it is

    READ MY SIGNATURE

the facts are easily found , as are acronyms, depends how much effort you put into it

bit stupid to shoot the messenger , so I suggest you read more and type less , then come back if you get a real issue with real and SERIOUS letters instead of DCA drivel as this thread is too long already when its only about debt collectors and not parking (could have been about a plumbers invoice and the result would be the same)

ps:- I too have a blue badge, but I have also read the blue booklet and am careful to read signage where the vehicle is parked , public or private , plus I never think of how it used to be , only as it is on the day itself , because things change , rapidly over the last few years

research and reading are the key ingredients here and you were in serious need of a reality check so I decided enough was enough and did so, like it or not , you got the true facts , from a forum , from people who do know more than you do and are keen to pass it on

its the LBC or MCOL that will trigger your reaction , or not , depending on if they are ever posted in the next 5 to 6 years to your house, until then you can do nothing , which you were clearly told a few months ago around page 2

you will find that the regulars on here have a very low tolerance level when it comes to debt collector posts because its been mulled over godzillion times before and I am no exception (and this is not a debt collector or financial matters forum) - plus you are never too old to learn , so read the replies and digest the info within , searching out the answers to the parts you dont understand and try watching a few consumer programmes, you might learn summat

you dont need your ego to be massaged, you need to put it down , read what has been said over several pages and absorb it like a sponge , using google to fill in the blanks !!

Yes, I probably have made to many assumptions and I admit I missed the bit about not replying to debt collectors, but I thought the bit about admittance of liability was valid hence the call.

If it was serious I could imagine standing in front of a magistrate and trying to explain that some chap on the internet told me not to reply

I too have been to the small claims court. An ebay seller took me to the SCC a few years ago, claimed I'd returned a different item than he'd sold me. I fought that myself, won and got costs because he failed to offer a counter argument to mine. That aspect and standing up for myself is no problem. However I do admit I'm guilty of reacting too quickly to correspondence in this case

    Lesson learnt.

Yes the thread has gone to 4 pages, again I assumed there would be some interest in knowing the outcome, and what I consider serious irregularities in that firms operation. It may be old hat to you but to me it's not. Plus, I hate threads were the outcome remains a mystery.

I am very very grateful of all the highly useful info and help received, I've thanked everyone who has volunteered advice, however it's normally me giving the advice in the DIY section, but this is different and I worry.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Yes but you can now Google 'debt recovery plus parking ignore' and read about it twenty godzillion times!

Afraid with my memory I'd still have to look it up the next time I needed to refer to it.
This was the reason I wanted to PM you earlier so that you would understand my situation as you have been very helpful and I know my uptake of the info has been less than 100%.

I was actually hung up on what you said in #46, "You don't need to use legal assistance v Highview. They only send letters".
When I got a letter from the debt recovery people I took that as being different to what you'd said.

Apologies for the word "godzillion", I was just trying to say I realise you've obviously been advising many such people as me, bad choice of wording on my part.

You mention "magistrates court". This is a civil parking "ticket" and won't go anywhere near a Mag's court. If it ever goes anywhere will be the small claims court. An entirely different kettle of fish.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Again my unfamiliarity with any courts. I do realise it would be the SCC just thought they were run by the magistrates office and it would be a magistrate present. The case I mentioned didn't require me to attend as the claimant defaulted on his evidence.

Ah OK, no, these letters are what I meant. And I liked the word Godzillion!

Well today they have made me a superb offer and I'm very tempted,

"To end this matter once and forever our client has made the offer to reduce the charge from £149.95 to £129.95 provided payment is made immediately, otherwise our client will consider putting this in the hands of the court"

I am sorely tempted to pay,

NOT, and yes, it was a sarcastic post, ;)

No letters demanding or offers of reduction for many months so I consider they have given up. It is a year after the event.
Yes I have learnt from here that there is no real time frame for them to come back, but would any court allow such crap after a year or even 2/3 more??
The real good news is I have spread the word, advised several others who didn't realise how the cctv system that is used in that and similar car carps/parks/craps works.

I don't park in the car park in question now, we walk from Lidl which is just a few meters away. But we still see cars in disabled bays there that don't fully understand the signs. They have been directed here
(with instructions to read the newbies bit of course, :A:A)

Edited to say thank you very much, plus 1000% for Couponmad.

Yes, up to six years, so keep all the letters and tell them if you move house in that time!
