It's the threatogram game ... the more you engage with a debt collector the longer the threatograms tend to last.

Which isn't a problem if you have hamsters needing bedding. :)

I will engage them all day long, my hamsters are happy and I have time. The buzz phrase was don't ignore them, I haven't . More than happy to listen to the threats. However not going to roll over.

Should have said earlier, it's not the fine, not the money. I'm well able to take care of that. But, it does seem that they want to press people that they see as vulnerable, ie don't get their automated system. They seem to want to intimidate these people(me), into submission.
I'll play the game into court if that's their game plan.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

The buzz phrase has always been - IGNORE debt collectors; DON'T ignore the initial PCN/NTK or court papers. :)

Yeah, I did say right or wrong. The reason I made a very short call to them was that the paperwork stated that "not replying would be viewed as an acceptance of liability for the charge"

Not confident enough to know if that is total bull or otherwise.

its all bull because debt collectors are powerless and they routinely LIE

I have NEVER seen a post on here that tells people to contact the debt collectors, but there are thousands of posts telling people to IGNORE the debt collectors, not to contact them , not by telephone , not by email , not by letter

the DO NOT IGNORE advice is about not ignoring the initial NTK or sometimes the windscreen ticket , plus NOT IGNORING an LBC or an MCOL at all

I myself have posted these caveats HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of times on here over the last 4 years

    so its

DO NOT IGNORE THE PPC INVOICE

    DO NOT IGNORE AN LBC

    DO NOT IGNORE COURT PAPERS

    ALWAYS IGNORE A DEBT COLLECTOR

it does not get any simpler than that

ps:- the debt "never goes away" , it remains on file "forever"

the PPC , HIghview , have 6 years under the small claims system to try to enforce the alleged debt , so that is 72 months , yet its only a few months since this thread was last updated and is only 4 months old anyway , not 68 or 72 months

so after say 73 months (in another 69 months or so) , it cannot be chased through the courts , so all that may happen is "debt collector letters" , although it would be likely to become a "cold case" after 6 years , because it would be statute barred

you would still be advised to IGNORE those debt collector letters

ignore the debt collectors and get on with your life

Thanks again for the reassurance, I hadn't picked up on the bit about ignoring the debt recovery letters but IF, and I know it's very unlikely, I go to court over this which I'm quite prepared to do,I didn't want a magistrate asking why I had ignored that letter.

I gave the document reference, no name, and just stated that the registered keeper would not be paying their charge and to advise their client again as I had that I was prepared to let the court settle the matter.

If you look back at the 1st post you'll see why I'm serious about this. It is the 1st time in a lifetimes driving that I have had a parking ticket or charge, I simply don't take the risk. This was a mistake of their making and using all the very welcome info gained here I am not afraid of fighting them but as you can realise I don't make a habit of this. I've had a few speeding tickets and was caught bang to rights, no argument. However these people are a joke and I can't believe the unprofessional manner of their office operations.

I have read the first post , in fact I read ALL of the thread before my last reply , to try and see what all the fuss was about that led to the thread being several pages long and yet NO COURT CASE and was ONLY at the boring DCA stage

no magistrate will ask you because small claims court is civil court and no magistrate is in attendance (that is another assumption by you)

its one judge , a bit like you see on Judge Rinder (which follows the same rules as far as legalities go , but the tv programme is over the top as regards comments made or some other court aspects which are different , but generally use it as a guide for the real thing)

    so a judge , not a magistrate

in any case, you should always ignore unsolicited letters or emails demanding money , or if there is a dispute you can dispute it once, in writing , putting REFER BACK TO CLIENT and keep a copy for the judge if it gets that far , this is well documenteds on the internet and on MSE too

this is all small claims procedures , nothing to do with "parking", its the same for any alleged debt that you dispute and is covered in the sticky threads , the small claims is for any alleged debt or unpaid invoice , not just parking invoices, its been in force since 1973 so is nothing "new"

so once you disputed it , you ignore it unless you get an LBC or an MCOL in the post , from the PPC or their legal representatives (not from a DCA)

by all means be serious about the original unpaid invoice , and about the PPC, and about any solicitor that gets involved

but do not be serious or worry about idiot debt collectors who have no powers and spend their lives sending out worthless debt letters with red scary writing on them

it is the latter we object to reading , because its the same s*** , day in day out (S.S.D.D.) AND THERE IS NOTHING TO BE DONE ABOUT IT

if this were Operation Yew Tree and you were accused of something nasty and were going to a Criminal Court and charged with some despicable offence (like Rolf) , then yes by all means you should be worried , but its not (there is a phrase that comes to mind , "making a mountain out of a molehill")

so when you need REAL HELP , with a real LBC or a real MCOL, then come back for it, people will help or advise you when it gets serious , but not when its just beans on toast every day for 72 months

No-one will ask why you ignored scam debt collector letters, in fact you can use them in your favour to show unreasonable harassment.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes an assumption that I believed from the threats recieved

its one judge , a bit like you see on Judge Rinder (which follows the same rules as far as legalities go , but the tv programme is over the top as regards comments made or some other court aspects which are different , but generally use it as a guide for the real thing)

I don't follow crap like that on TV, just honest advice from forums such as this.

    so a judge , not a magistrate

Only if you follow these threads, I'm incoming to this so please ease off

Not "new" to you but very new to me

so once you disputed it , you ignore it unless you get an LBC or an MCOL in the post , from the PPC or their legal representatives (not from a DCA)

Abbreviations lost on me I'm afraid

by all means be serious about the original unpaid invoice , and about the PPC, and about any solicitor that gets involved

but do not be serious or worry about idiot debt collectors who have no powers and spend their lives sending out worthless debt letters with red scary writing on them

as you get older and have never experienced debt or liabilities you simply do worry, it's an age thing, but as someone who never owed or borrowed money, debt threats are very real.
But so is my determination not to conceed to these people.

You are much more familiar with this stuff than me, obvious from your post, but please be a little more understanding in that it is not second nature for me, I have not read about it godzillion times before, infact it is very new.
