Humax 4000 series

I've been looking up details of current Humax boxes as ours don't record in HD.
The 4000 series has the advantage of recording up to 4 programmes at once and has Freeview play, but several reviews mention that it is not as good as older models, partly because of slow reaction to commands.
Does anyone have personal experience of these models ?
I'm in no hurry to buy, as Richer Sounds don't yet have the black model (Nero); just 'white or very dark brown'.
