Euros and Halifax Clarity

I'm hoping someone can confirm my thinking, or point out a better way to do this!

I'm travelling next week and plan on using my Halifax clarity card while away as and when I can - realistically for larger purchases. I need/want to take some euros in cash with me. When using the travel money checker on this site, it tells me the Halifax Clarity card is my best option/rate.

So does that mean that I am best to take cash out at the airport and use the card as and when I can, or should I arrange for some euros in cash before I go and then use the card as and when I can as planned?

I can't decide!

Personally, I would use an ATM at the arrival airport.

Yes the arrival airport, not the UK airport. The ATM might offer you currency conversion (DCC), do not accept this, always take the "without conversion" option.

UK airport ATMs sometimes dispense Euros but will usually enforce DCC at a really rubbish rate. I think there is an exception with some Moneycorp ATMs where you get the choice but you may as well wait till you get to arrival airport where you'll always either get a choice or charged in Euros.

Thanks both - this is really helpful and exactly what I will do on my arrival.
