Flight cancelled

Just returned fromPhoenix to London Heathrow on British Airways fllight booked through American Airlines. I then had to get coach to Gatwick to catch my final flight, again British Airways, to final destination, Alicante, again all booked AA. There was no flight existing, though clearly shown on my itinerary. I was told by British Airways I would either have to pay for a hotel and catch a flight the next day, or alternatively buy a ticket from Norwegian Airlines costing £270 and fly later that evening and claim back from American Airlines. I have tried claiming from AA the cost of flight and asked for compensation for stress and inconvenience. So far they are refusing to pay £270. They are prepared to reimburse the cost of the final flight part of my original bill plus $200 travel voucher. Is this satisfactory?

You need to clarify what you mean by this so people can ascertain where the problem lies
BA do operate this route daily...on some days they have 2 flights.
Was this a reschedule that AA did not notify you of? had you been able to check your booking online?
Given that they are offering something it does sound like they are admitting some sort of liability but this is not covered by the EU261 guidance so you would need to check if there is reference in their Conditions of Carriage
