Broadband Provider

Hi,
Looking to change provider. Currently with BT on standard broadband. They have offered to upgrade my broadband to fibre unlimited for an extra £1 per month. On looking at what i am paying would be £8 more a month than a new customer would get. On contacting them and asking if they could do anything they said the extra pound a month is a good deal and the cheaper price is for a new customer. They said i could cancel and rejoin for the deal but i'd likely have a break in my service for about 3 weeks.
I have found a few good deals with SSE and Sky which would save me £20 per month but the reviews are bad online. Has anyone dealt with either companies. No matter who i look at the reviews don't seem to be good. I am aware people only tend to post reviews after bad experiences but it is making me consider my options before taking the plunge to swap.

I've left Sky for PlusNet today, because the former's retention deal was poor. ie free broad band, which deteriorated to half price. Even an inclusive tv deal was equivalent to full price tv with a small reduction on line , Adsl and calls. (I turned down 60% off tv but with full price communications, last week.)
It looks as though we are going to have to move every year now, as deals get thinner on the ground.0 -

Thanks, not looking at having a tv package with them. Happy to move from sky at the end of the 18 month contract thats on offer as long as i can port my phone number with it. My main concern is the provider does not throttle the speeds stupidly at busy periods and then i'm stuck with it for 18 months. I've read SSE do this a fair amount could you comment on sky?0
