We were in Hong Kong and supposed to be flying Hong Kong to Shanghai with Dragon Air connecting with BA to Heathrow. When we checked in at Hong Kong station for the baggage drop we were told that our flight the 19:05 had been cancelled. They offered us the 21:30, but that would have missed our connection, luckily we had checked in early and they were able to offer us the 18:00.
When we were at Hong Kong airport about to board our flight to Shanghai we checked our BA flight to find that we had been changed from the BA0160 at 00:40 to the BA0168 11:00 without any notification or explanation. We were very unhappy with this as we would have been hanging around Shanghai for 14 hours and we had work to get to.
We spoke to the Dragon Air staff at the boarding gate who were extremely helpful and managed to change everything and they got us on a Cathay flight from Hong Kong to Heathrow, arriving at about the same time that we would have arrived on our original flight.
My question is should we apply for compensation for the stress and disruption even though the matter was resolved, only by luck really because we checked in early and then again checked our BA flight and how can they switch our flight without notifying us?

So you want compensation even though the matter was resolved & you didn't suffer any issues or inconvenience?Dwy galon, un dyhead,

As the issue was caused by the DragonAir flight cancellation which is a non-EU airline and the cancellation was for a flight fully outside the EU there is no compensation due and it is correct that it was for DragonAir to sort out0 -
It is very annoying when these things happen but having cancelled your flight it seems that DragonAir staff moved heaven and earth to get you sorted out.0
