Virgin: Break out or hang in?

Here's a conundrum!:
Will breaking out of my 18 month contract Virgin BB contract after only 16 months (they have increased prices, so I think I can), mean they don't offer me a customer loyalty bonus if I just hang in there for those last two months?
Basically, I'm trying to weigh up whether the breakout would save me more (about £30ish) or I should just grit my teeth and hope for a loyalty bonus for renewal when it comes to a natural end in 8 weeks?
Indeed, does anyone know what sort of discounts I might get as a second year customer looking for a 1 year BB only contract, compared to their published prices? Thanks all!:)

A year ago, when virgin increased prices, i cancelled the lot (big kahuna, with 200mb internet, xl tv and phone), which was going up to over £70. I only wanted to keep the broadband. Their offer was around £15 for 50mbs for 6 months and 21.50 for another year. Not bad.
But now they are increasing to £24.50 so i just gave my notice. Going with BT fibre, 52 mbs, for an average £18 a month, considering cashback and pre-paid card offers. Never had BT before, and there are horror stories about them, but i will see how it goes0 -
be aware any deal you do now will lock you in for another 12 months.
Now is the time to do the deal though I think.
There isn't any loyalty bonus ???0 -
I would price up alternatives .
Then phone the cancel number on the price rise email .You want to cancel due to price increase and you can get the same from XXX at Y per month see what they offer .0 -
I just got the £2.99 price increase letter
I was thinking about leaving before this arrived too!
I am on the 50mb broadband only package and was paying £27.75 now this pushes it over £30 a month which is too much.
I shall be ringing them up, no idea who are cheaper though:o0 -
When you quit Virgin, be sure to check your credit file that they have closed your account properly.
I quit my Virgin account just under a year ago and started getting letters from a debt collector in the summer demanding six months outstanding payments Virgin claimed I owed them. After several long phone calls to customer service I thought I'd got the issue resolved and the letters stopped.
But it's still showing as defaulted on my credit file. The only credit I can get now is at crippling rates of interest, so Virgin will be costing me a fortune for a long time. Wish I'd never heard of that bloody company.0 -
