So don't vacation overseas if you don't want to pay more.
Similarly if you consider yourself to be primarily located in another country and your personal income has dropped in a non sterling currency then you need to consider what impact that personal pay cut has on you. It may be that the uk is less attractive to the extent that you might want to base yourself elsewhere, presuming that your preferred location will accept you with the skills or resources you have, and there is sufficient work etc.0 -

Why did you do it? Was it really worth it to vote for Brexit?
We had to leave the EU, giving 500m people unfettered access to this country is madness. People go on about how great migrant workers are. Immigration is ok if it's controlled and you let the right people in. Migrant workers send a lot if their money back home which does not benefit the economy here. You try getting a house, doctors appointment or a school place for your child and you're up against it.
There will not be a Europe for much longer, look how much misery the Euro has brought to Southern Europe. The EU is a corrupt political beast. This country is full and cannot go on absorbing a population the size of Newcastle every year. We have so much beautiful countryside which is being built on to accommodate an ever increasing population.
Most of the migrants are unskilled and are doing jobs which indigenous people could do. By all means allow nurses and the like to come in not a cleaner who lives here on next to nothing and sends much of their money back home.
In short, leaving Europe is like a good medicine, it will taste bad for a while but be very beneficial in the long run.
Finally, before anyone says that the people who voted out are racist, think again. I know many black and Asian people who voted out. It's not about race, it's about space.Money is a wise mans religion0 -
Yes it was worth it for Brexit: Providing jobs and homes for immigrant unskilled workers is absolute insanity when we don't have enough jobs and homes for our own unskilled workers.
In any case not a lot has happened to the processes by which a currency is valued. In the real world having the whole world to trade with without the constraints of the EU is positive not negative.
You talk a lot of sense.Money is a wise mans religion0 -

96% of the country is undeveloped!. That means only 4% of the country has things built on it so the argument of the country being "full" is not very valid.
The problem with lack of housing is simply because there are not enough houses being built. Almost every time a new housing development is planned people start to protest against it and use your argument that "all green space" is being built on, when this is simply not true!.
Plus having some unskilled workers is good for the economy and generally unskilled immigrants who just want to get money to send home are happy to do any job. In reality nobody dreams to be a bin man or a toilet cleaner so people avoid these kinds of minimum wage jobs. But to an immigrant the minimum wage may be a lot of money and when they don't care what work they do they will take all the unpopular jobs.0 -

Granted, only four percent of the country is developed but do we want to be continuously destroying the greenery? The country is full as most people choose to live in a house of some description. If people tended to sleep in fields and woodland then your argument would have some credence.
You said that having 'some' migrant workers is good for the economy. This is true, people like me are not anti immigration we are anti uncontrolled immigration which is what we have now. So many warehouses and factories are full of Eastern Europeans. Do you remember in 2004 when foolish Labour decided not to put any restrictions on immigration from the new EU states? I think we were assured that less than fifteen thousand people a year would come here, that figure has been dwarfed by the millions that have arrived.
The NHS is on its knees, all these people coming in have access to healthcare. I know a Lithuanian who has been in this country for seven years and has a council house. Let's look after our own. Whilst I deplore racism and extremism the current situation is giving the right wing an angle to poison normal people against migrants.Money is a wise mans religion0 -

The point is, if you can afford to go on holiday at all then stop complaining. Some people cant even afford to feed their families.
Good point, holidays are a luxury. For years we had it really good with the strong pound. Rather than moaning about holiday costs people should be more worried about rising fuel and food prices.Money is a wise mans religion0 -

I'm not saying people should live in fields!. I'm saying we should be building millions of new houses on all this land we have and people should realise the need for this housing and stop trying to shut down every new development.
Just think in thousands of years we have only developed 4% of the country, there will always be plenty of green space no matter how much we build.
I'm not saying immigration shouldn't be controlled but I just think that while it is at such a high rate then it should be used to justify a massive increase in house building and infrastructure.0 -

It may be true only 4% is developed, I haven't checked. But a lot of land that is not developed is not suitable for development, for example prone to flooding, upland which is too steep to build on (or too boggy, prone to erosion, under snow for half the year etc).
The issue is that many people assume that undeveloped land is unused, it isn't. Britain is already a net importer of food. Most of the undeveloped land is used for food production (either growing of crops or grazing of animals) or is unsuitable for such uses. Developing this land means we have a larger population to feed and less land on which to produce food. Look at aerial photos of most of England for instance and you will see fields. Not large areas of wilderness.
Personally I don't see the cost of imports going down, with the sinking value of the pound and the cost of transportation only likely to increase. Yes a lot of food is wasted so there are I'm sure savings to be made there but ultimately I don't think it's a sensible policy to be reliant on ever increasing imports of food which seems to me to be a likely result of our rapidly rising population (and the resulting development).0
