    :grouphug:More congrats to Coxy!

    Morning Everyone

Big hugs and positivity to all in need - for those in a dark place - keep going and have some Kendal Miint Cake xxxx Have been under the big fat black cloud of doom myself for the last few days - time to get out from under and try to tackle some worries (and for the ones too big to tackle - get some reinforcements in lol).

Lovely to hear good news and moving on news - thank you for sharing.

Household drudgery nearly done - some more wardrobe pruning and chucking to do (charity shop bags) and then an afternoon painting I think.

    Take care lovelies xxxx

Good Morning chums and Well Done Coxy on getting your job I am so pleased and I think it has given us all a bit of a lift to hear such good news.
Dumpling you enjoy the movies this afternoon .

I retired in 1995 and honestly wouldn't have time to work nowadays I am far too busy :) Its great getting the chance to do all the things you never had time for ,but the only drawback is sometimes that your family think because you are retired you sit around all day waiting for something to do

No way do you do that (you can if you want ) but there are so many exciting other things to be doing.I have innumerable hobbies and because I am in U3A I could be out day and night 7 days a week if I wanted to I have to ration myself at time But Saturdays is sacrosanct for me, and I do what ever I want to on a Saturday ,even if its only slobbing around in a dressing gown (not got to that so far :))
I swim, walk, knit, cook,go to lots of different club, quiz night, crossword puzzles, jigsaws (in the winter when I can't get out ) ,read, craft, and goodness knows how many other things plus I look after three of my DGS after school and during the holidays .So a lazy life of retirement isn't on the agenda so far :) Every day is new and exciting and I am making the most of every minute :) I don't know anyone in my circle of friends who aren't doing the same or similar.EG next Tuesday I have a coffee morning to host, then in the afternoon I am off to a social club for a Beetle drive ,then in the evening I run my pub quiz team. So that day will just whizz by and from 4 -6 I will also be making a snack and keeping my three DGS amused as well :)Anyone who is thinking of retiring then go for it Its the best thing I ever did

Slowly57 you are spot on its doing what you want to do, not what you fell obliged to do that makes the difference

Have a great day everyone I intend to I am off to see one of my housebound friends as she needs her library books changing and a cuppa and a natter will cheer her day up no end

    JackieO xx
  • Good morning all,

A busy morning on here today. Hello to you all.

Later check-in from me as I was at a networking event this morning which was really good. I always get nervous about them and just sort of interrupt peoples conversations however you soon realise that it's the norm and everyone does it. Soon got into the flow and enjoyed it. I've 10 business cards now sitting on my desk.

Yesterday was a good evening. I unfortunately had to go to a SM which ruined my NSD however I'll get one today.

Coxy - Amazing!! Huge well done!! Delighted for you.
Red Ruby - I'm new to this selling on Facebook thing. How does it work?

Im only 26 and I feel like I can't wait for retirement, that's terrible, I know.

Whilst there is nothing wrong with being an old lady (age is a privilege) - early retirement has enabled me to stop doing what I HAD to do and start doing what I WANTED to do.
(Apart from the ironing :D ).

Now, ironing is one thing I don't do! Or washing up...hated doing both of these tasks and am happy to wear clothes which don't need ironing. Cotton and wool are my 'friends'.

Yes I know I'm late, but I've only just gotten onto MSE - been doing online surveys in between seeing to the dogs' needs (Charlie has had a bit of an upset tummy) all day.
Hester, I am not convinced that retirement turns you into an old lady overnight, I reckon it takes at least a week.
Nah, Mr LW had turned into a 6-year-old child within a week. :D

Sadly, I had to retire at 41 due to ill health; I have a document from the final person who assessed me (I was passed from pillar to post) saying I'd never be fit for work again, on both physical and mental health grounds. :(

I'm 56 now, and even with the help Mr LW gives me, it still takes me all my time and energy to do the tasks I have to do, and there's no time or energy left for anything I'd like to do.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Hugs LW, I'm so sorry to hear that.
My L&M has a friend who's wife is retired and I'm terrified I'll turn into her if I retire.
She has 2 topics of conversation, her daughter in law, who she hates and next doors pebbly drive.
Every morning she get up and counts how many pebbles have rolled on to her drive from next door, she the complains about said pebbles for the rest of the day.
I will make a pact with my DD's, they must promise to shoot me if I get to that stage.
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Hi everyone

I'm back and buzzing from my adventures this afternoon. For a start we decided to take the bus instead of her car as she wasn't confident about driving it into town and also the film finished as rush hour started. Everything went smoothly, the film was very good and I really enjoyed it. The seats were a little 'snug' but I have another month till the next film comes out that I want to see so Operation LardyA*se has begun where I hope to lose at least another half stone, hopefully off my hips but I'll be happy wherever it goes from :rotfl:.
I came home and my lovely hubby has started making tea so I could sit down with a cuppa and tell him all about it. I just feel so happy :D:D:D.

Thank you all for putting up with my worries and panicking, it means a lot to know you are virtually cheering me on. You are all so lovely and I feel so grateful to be part of this community. :A
  • Well done Dumpling, you are doing so well.
    Hugs Hester
