Typical and it exposes tenants making a big fuss about safety only when it suits them, usually when deposit deductions are discussed.Mortgage free I: 8th December 2009!
Mortgage free II: New Year's Eve 2013!
Mortgage free III: Est. Dec 2021...1 -
This landlord is a disgrace: Frankly you should have informed the authorities 3 years ago.. Grass the little scr*at up now to help any future tenants...and neigbours!

Cheers!
Artful (landlord as it happens..)0 -
You should have raised the issues at the time.
The lack of inspection did not financially affect you, so why would if affect your deposit?0 -
They are 2 seperate matters and as annoying as it is for you, raising the issue of not having the gas safety certificate won't help you dispute the deposit deduction - it will probably only get the LL's back up even more.
Challenge the deductions through your deposit scheme.
Do you have evidence (photos etc.) of the things they're trying to claim for?0 -
Regarding the potentail to 'blackmail' (threaten) the LL, I note thatI only twigged when a gas safety company called to book one just before I left the property.
Reporting the matter to HSE now, will probobly result in
* HSE contacting the LL
* LL sends them the new GSR
* HSE sends reprimand for failure to have GSR during your tenancy, and reminder to keep it up to date hereafter
They would ony prosecute if there were a) still a tenant in occupation AND b) still no GSR AND LL refused to get one
So frankly your threat is tame.
Had you taken action during your tenancy, HSE woul have ensured that your life was safer.
Just focus on disputing deductions you disagree with.0 -
