There's only been a four month gap, and there were well over a hundred posts spread over the 12 months previous to then.renegadefm wrote: »Gerry1, sorry didnt realize. How come a 3 year old thread has sprung back to life?0 -
I've got 3 or 4 year old npower formerly smart meter which has gone dumb since I switched to edf nearly 2 years ago. I was fine with this as I could still use the ihd to monitor energy usage. Over the past month though, the ihd and meter link has been lost and the display only says that it is connecting to the smart meter. Switching the ihd on and off does not fix this. Is there anything else that can be done?0

I got a Smart Meter installed from EDF in December. Engineer replaced both gas and electric meters.
The IHD is picking up the electric meter in the cupboard under the stairs but not the gas meter which is outside.
I moved the IHD so it would be as close to the gas meter but it is still not detecting it.
Having the gas meter outside must be relatively common so is this something that can be resolved? Seems odd that they'd create an IHD that cannot detect a meter in almost all situations.
I have done the usual (switch off IHD and switch it back on) but to no avail.
Edit:
I've just googled and it seems like it is a common problem and the IHD will only work for around 70% of properties. The meter being outside being one of the reasons for not working.Current Debt (excluding mortgage) - £7,020

More importantly, is the gas meter even communicating with the leccy meter and onwards to the D.C.C (and hence EDF):)0 -
