Also, in settings, does anyone know what the setting "Power Level" does?
When enabled, your supply will be cut off if you used more than your allowance.0 -
Sounds like it's the Load Limiting function (see Section 4.7).
When enabled, your supply will be cut off if you used more than your allowance.
. Any load limiting in T and Cs apply only to prepayment meter users who s energy is cut off when the credit/emergency credit runs out..How else could prepayment meters work ?
Suppliers are not allowed by law to remotely disconnect anyones energy even if theft of energy is suspected and non payment for energy use. We still have to rely on the old ways and get a Magistrates warrant, and a locksmith sometimes to enter properties.. Disconnection is rare anyway.Prepayment meters will be fitted and debt loaded on it to collect it
if there are power cuts needed for whatever reason , I had one last week, it will apply to everyone regardless of what flavour meter they have0 -
Sounds like it's the Load Limiting function (see Section 4.7). The meter supports a load limiting function which when in operation will provide the user with only a limited supply.
When enabled, your supply will be cut off if you used more than your allowance.
I'm referring to a British Gas in hone display unit.
Thanks0 -
Sounds like it's the ["atlantic.co.uk/uploadedFiles/CoreMarketingSites/Assets/Documents/5236UserManualVersion1_8.pdf"]Load Limiting[/URL] function (see Section 4.7).
When enabled, your supply will be cut off if you used more than your allowance.
"When enabled and while the meter is operating in Prepayment mode, load
limiting shall only become active when the present balance falls below zero.
When active the usual switching of supply is overridden by the load limiting
function."
So... it basically means it can stop a debt from building up if you are unable to top up the PPM by cutting supply.
As long as the meter is topped up it won't cut the supply... Please don't post headlines without giving people the details as not everyone will read the fine print.0 -
Can you please stop scare mongering rubbish on here and I would thank you to stop it.

So would you now like to be constructive by explaining the reason why this feature is clearly designed to operate in credit mode? Or by explaining to what "Power Level' setting refers, if it's not Load Limiting?UnclaimedEnergy wrote: »"When enabled and while the meter is operating in Prepayment mode, load

Great example of not everyone reading the fine print (detail) of a manual by myself!!! :rotfl:
I can't actually see anything on there which specifies exactly what would happen with the credit mode option within the SSE user manual.
Questions
If the 5th paragraph onwards applies to all then it can be re-connected by the user?
Is the load limiting able to be set by the user or supplier as well?
If this is applied in credit, then wouldn't this likely be in arrangement with the supplier to help pay off debt to them by limiting usage?0 -
I doubt that a smart meter will save many people very much money. Certainly it will not make me rich...but it does tell me when my toast is done.0

Hi,
Wonder if anyone could help. I had a smart meter installed sep2016. Dual fuel. In July 2017 the gas meter stopped sending readings to British Gas. I have had estimated bills since. I phoned BG and they have told me they are going to exchange the meter, but not get a reading, so the estimated bills will stay as is. Is this correct? Is there no way to get a reading?
Thanks
And I know I should of checked, but it only says it’s a estimated bill on page three and my direct debit was covering the bill. My usage has significantly dropped over the last two years.0 -
Just read the meter yourself (the device on the wall, not the portable unit) and send the readings to British Gas via phone or their website. The instructions you were given should tell you how to do this, or search online for the name and type of meter. Make sure you keep a record of the reading, and check that the new meter starts at zero.0

Thanks for the reply. The issue is there is no manual meter. It’s a white plastic box with no screen0
