People!!!! We are missing the point here....

POPLA, [both old and new] was/is a smokescreen.

While we are on here claiming massive steps in 'beating a PPC at POPLA [possibly a few hundred times]' thousands [correction hundreds of thousands] of people are either paying up or being issued with court papers and then paying up.

PPCs agreed to POPLA as a small sacrifice to getting 'legality' about their scamming tactics.

We should be doing more to attack the one thing that will leave most PPCs dead in the water....withdrawal of DVLA access.

We will never beat the PPCs one ticket at a time....

Just a thought and an opinion....

No point is being missed, we all know that.

The DVLA are so arrogant and ignorant, they are all part of the big scam.

It is Theresa May and her government who can stop the scam.

As many are saying to Mrs May ...

"WHY DOES YOUR GOVERNMENT ALLOW THIS SCAM"

We are all well aware of that, but it doesn't stop the dozens of motorists who turn up here for advice day after day and need answers to their questions.

The issue has moved on from four years ago of giving simple 'ignore, ignore, ignore' advice which resulted in little further questions from the OP, to post-PoFA advising on a more assertive initial appeals - many of which worked, to then having to undertake critiques of POPLA appeals, which, if carrying the magic GPEOL paragraph, were more or less guaranteed to succeed.

Until Beavis, when now we are having to become more deeply involved in more detailed and extended POPLA appeals, involving much more time consuming advice on the minutiae of extremely lengthy drafts.

Then the maelstrom of mass legal robo-claims from the likes of BWL, Gladstones, SCS, Miah, MIL and similar bottom-feeders where OPs are requiring detailed legal advice and ultra-intensive critiques of strategies and defences.

In addition there are those with default CCJs, where advice on getting set-asides is demanded.

All of this against a background of fewer regulars giving detailed and considered advice. (Haven't seen Redx on here for weeks - anyone know if he's OK?). We're all pretty busy - and Coupon continues to pile in the hours, which deserves all of our admiration; without her the forum would crumble (which might have been the ultimate strategy of some a few weeks ago).

So, are you taking the lead on tackling the DVLA, because other people are far too busy on a daily basis in helping those in desperate need? Or are you suggesting we all down tools and move in your suggested direction, leaving individual PPC victims stranded? We can't be facing both ways at the same time.

Let us know how you've got on with the DVLA please.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Hopefully Computersaysno will be along shortly to advise on the strategy he suggests everyone should take. :)

whilst they are getting 100s of thousands of £2.50 , they will not do anything , the system is set up that the ATA monitors the PPCs , and will sanction them if needed , however UKPC were caught out last year (I think we could say fraud - that they admitted to) , but they just got their hands slapped and told to be more careful not getting caught next time

I didn't say that I wanted to lead the charge...I was merely expressing an opinion and hopefully giving people cause for some thought...

I also was in no way denigrating all the posters on here who do help so many....but I guess there's truth in the old adage 'Some people will look to be offended in whatever you say'....:)

No question that knobbling DVLA access would be a major victory against the PPCs but that is going to take a very concerted and determined effort at a level much higher than the the DVLA themselves - Politicians and regulatory bodies perhaps?

You start by writing to your MP and also try to get your local newspaper(s) to take an interest in the issue. Trying to demonise the civil servants at the DVLA who are simply tasked with implementing the legislation as it is currently on the statute book will get you nowhere. It is up to our elected representatives to change the law.

I've tried through my MP three times. His name is SIR Allan Duncan (known locally as useless Duncan) who can't even bother his !!!! to attend the annual Battle of Britain commemoration ceremony within living memory.
He's a junior member of Mrs May's government so must at least have the opportunity to whisper in a few appropriate ears.
He just gives me the metaphorical brush off so what chance have the ordinary citizens got to fight this government sponsored scam.
I've also emailed Mrs May, no response of course not even a automated acknowledgement of receipt

What a pity that they have 6 years to claim, its not like normal debt where each person has a paper trail and know what they owe.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
