LED Lights

I haven't given it a much thought until I saw some Fake Britain episodes recently.
LED bulbs (mainly GU5/10 as halogen ones are notoriously inefficient) from known brands have significant mark-ups, and while cheaper options can be found on Amazon/eBay they nearly always shipped from China, does this mean these are potentially not fire tested - they do carry CE marks but there is nobody to check if they are really certified?
Where do you buy your bulbs from? - I replaced my bulbs to these Amazon variety 3 years ago - while most of those are still working ok, I am thinking of replacing them with Philips (or similar) ones to avoid any disaster.

It's best to always stick to known brands and bricks and mortar shops. That way if anything does go wrong you have somebody to go to about it.
No name bulbs bought from the internet are always going to be a gamble.0 -

Screwfix - bought box of 10 GU10 (by LAP) for £20.0

I generally buy from Screwfix or Toolstation, their prices are pretty good so it's not worth bothering with potentially dodgy no-name lamps.
Also, the lighting department at Ikea is a glittering LED smorgasbord - I'm still trying to think up a reason to buy a 2000 lumen LED globe lamp.0 -

Simples. To fit the lamp on the top floor of your lighthouseAny language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -

I have the IKEA light that sort of looks like the death star. Saw it and though, I have to have it. Not sure if it will go in mine and the wife's room or my 3 years old boy's room...I have been undecided for over 12 months! lol0

Yes anything that connects to the mains it's best to get a brand or buy it from a reputable shop.
Most of my lightbults came from supermarkets or DIY shops. Quality varies a lot.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
