I bought a pair of them for £130 each plus £20 odd for the power saver, the rear one doubles a reverse camera. That was a few years ago, they have already paid for themselves twice now so its all good. There are cheaper cameras that will do the roughly the same job, a few of the folk on the forum has them, if you search for the dash cam thread, theres lots of information on there.

If the power drops lower than a set limit, the thing shuts off to save the car battery with the power saver box.

I dont even see the cameras, the rear camera is in line with the centre headrest and the front is covered by my visor thats always down.
  • excellent I am buying one.

I am not sure what you mean by hiding it behind visor, would you mind taking a pic ?

I was thinking I mount it at front and back center top.

for reverse camara, do you also need to buy the module though plus lcd ?

now back to the main issue, police has closed the case and their answer was there was no cctv.
I have contacted shop that my car was there and they said they have CCTV and can provide it to police and same with council.

now my question is how do I convience them to do their job as they seem to be no bothered and closed the case second day.
Can I ask for their ID and raise a complaint with police head office?

    Write to the Chief Constable.

Find out his name and address the letter to him personally.

Going straight to the top often gets better results than anything else.

    Good luck.

I bought a double din head unit with a video input and reversing mode, with the lines, you would need either LCD or head unit with video in.

My front camera is to the right of the rear view mirror against the headlining, with the visor folded down and against the screen it hides the camera from my view.

With your current issue, good luck !

It'll either be locally resolved or goto professional standards whoever you write to. Unless of course you believe the Chief Constable actually receives such letters.

by locally resolved do you mean the police manager or head police ?

can they lock you up if you were to say can I have your ID as I am not happy with the way you have dealt with the case?

can they lock you up if you were to say can I have your ID as I am not happy with the way you have dealt with the case? No, but why do you need to ask who's dealing or not dealt with it? You'll already have a name.

No I don't believe that but his office receives them and his staff will usually make sure they are acted upon.

Many people find they get better results by submitting complaints to the person at the top of an organisation (that is certainly my own experience) and I suspect that will also apply to the police.

I may be wrong but it is no more effort to complain to the Chief Constable than to someone lower down the pecking order.
