Morning my chums
Happy Monday to you all.
I had a nice weekend. On Saturday I worked all day, the silver lining - a NSD. Sunday my GF and I aimed to go to Peebles for a nice lunch, we drove for an hour and we were 15 minutes away along some country road and there was a police diversion. To turn around and go another route would take another hour or so and by this point we were fading away so we ashamedly stopped at a fast food joint which was finger lickin' good.
Also visited Costco while we were in that direction and they had tons of nice Xmas presents out at really good prices. Like big gift sets in a nice hampter for less than £20. Food for thought.
TA - Fingers crossed things work out for your DS soon. And a belated happy anniversary!!
Coxy - A hugeeeee well done. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Gers - I was the exact same this morning actually!! "Red sky in the morning..."0 -
Good Morning chums dry and bright here in the Garden of England and even a bit of blue sky so fingers crossed for a nice day.
DD came yesterday morning and told me how wonderful their concert at O2 was Her and her OH saw Andrea Bocelli and she said it was well worth the money they paid When I asked how much she told me £200. for the two tickets and they were up in the Gods as well !!!!I nearly fell off my chair, but she said the whole evening was really wonderful and he has got an amazing voice(for that sort of cash I'd want him to sing to me personally:):))
Still her and her OH can afford it so why not.My youngest DD bless her gets excited if we go to the cinema (she's not as well off as her sister ) but hopefully her time will come when all the four boys are grown up and off hand
Today is a pottering day as I really don't have enough on my shopping list to warrant going to the shops I try to make it at least ten items before I shop.So it will be a NSD today No.3 this monthand I shall make do with what I have in the cupboards and perhaps do a shop later on this week.
I will have a root around the freezer for dinner I fancy a beef burger to go with my sweet baked jacket spud and some salad for tonight, I know I have a 'posh' y/s one from waitrose in there somewhere its red onion and some sort of herbs I think But I bought it reduced so that can be used upI will get this freezer emptied before christmas if possible
:):) I'm sure food is multiplying in there
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing
JackieO xx
P.S good luck coxy with your interview0 -
Morning all, I am late as am having a week off, with the exception of Weds morning. Not opening the laptop at all today.
Gers, we had a red and pink sky and I had the same thought.
TA I hope all works out for your son, yes, they are always our babies. I do try to grow my baby up these days, although he lives with us, he is an adult.
My mum's birthday today so will be ringing her later, not immediately as she has a carer for her husband on a Monday to give her a break.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
TA, sorry to hear your news, I hope it's a mixed blessing and DS will be happier in the long run. My DS told me he was with friends when one of them described his son as their baby and was told by his wife that he was no longer a baby at two years old. DS told them he was still my baby at 30!
We went for a walk yesterday - only 4 miles and flat but we both struggled towards the end. I can't wait until he has the stent out so that his body can recover.
I brought DS' and his DW bedding home to wash and was appalled at the state of their pillows and duvet (I think they're the ones DS took when he left home and they were by no means new then 12 years ago) so I bought new ones and they are ready to be picked up. I also want to go to Lidl today, I've been struggling with the low carbing so I must plan a menu for this week to try to get back on track.0 -
Good morning everyone
It's a beautiful sunny day here and I have just come back from a visit to the beach near us. I sat on a bench and watched all the lovely dogs running around as they are all allowed on there now it is October. I was supposed to go to therapy but my therapist is poorly so I had a reprieve. My lovely CMHT lady wanted to take me out anyway and that is why I ended up at the beach.
I am going to be heading back to bed in a minute as I am very tired. When I get back up I will be making a macaroni cheese with bacon and tomatoes for tea. I have some of the never ending soup to eat.
Well done Coxy on getting an interview, I hope you are successful x
TA, sorry that your DS is having trouble, hope he finds somewhere suitable to live soon x
Hope you all have a good day, take care xx0 -
Lovely day here so the washing is on the line as per usual.
Just going to pop down and pick up the rest of my prescription, a new diabetic drug, which I was informed costs £50 a box  plus a box of needles and why do pharmacies constantly run out of insulin?
TA sorry to hear about your DS, at least he is safe now away from the she cat.
Dumpling, I struggled with low carbing and follow the low Glycemic Index instead.

Good morning all,
A beautiful morning here. I have stripped the bed and the washing is out, and I have already re-made the bed.
We have had our usual morning walk, about 40 minutes, and it is doing Himself the power of good. He is at last losing the bit of fluid he had left in his legs, so that has to be good. He was out early for his routine blood test and with the GP for the results tomorrow.
TA I am so sorry you have family troubles. As you said you could do without it whilst Mr TA isn't well, but it sounds as though your son is well out of it, just hope he doesn't go back. If I remember you have had trouble with her in the past.
Coxy good luck with the interview.
Dumpling I read your post after we arrived back from our holiday. You are doing so well, see you can do it:). Onwards and upwards young lady
Lyn I hope HWK is OK, or is he having to visit the doctor for more antibiotics?
I ordered lots of tin foil containers of various sizes, which arrived this morning, so I am batch cooking. I have mince in the slow cooker for chilli, and this afternoon I will be making apple crumbles. We went apple picking in Norfolk so I have lots of lovely apples to use.
Tomorrow I will be making chicken casserole and shepherds pie. I want a good store of food in the freezer in case we have bad weather, or if I just don't feel like doing much .
Gers, silverside is lovely and to be honest I prefer it to topside. Just cook it slower and obviously longer, and you will have some lovely juices for gravy.
Have a good day all and many hugs to those who need one

He's continuing to slowly improve thanks CANDLELIGHT, had to take another little jar up to them this morning for a routine test but is doing much more, got most of his energy back and feeling much brighter in himself. We don't do 'poorly' quite so easily as we get older do we?
We've had a pottering morning here too, I've beeswax polished the old charm furniture, looks much less hungry now and I've swept and tidied the garden paths and the patio and I've also had a big sort out/ clear out of my sewing box and restored order in there. Vacuumed all over the house, dusted too and the second load of washing, the heavy cotton throws we've been using have all gone through and are out on the line drying in this nice sunshine. He Who Knows is heading off to the cinema this afternoon and I'm going to carry on polishing, this time the dresser, after I've walked Cookie.
Hope you've all had and continue to have a nice day, Lyn xxx.0 -
Afternoon all,
Lovely autumn day here.I've been in town this morning for a few bits and picked up a lovely M/s winter coat for a fiver from the hospice shop so I'm well pleased, mine are getting shabby.Got some primarni pjs as I've been feeling cold at night.
RR glad you are enjoying your log burner,we lit our bigger one yesterday morning ,what a difference it makes.
We went to visit my DB & family yesterday as they moved on Friday.I'm sad he's not round the corner now but they do have a fantastic view of fields and then the hills. Not a good start as he had to get a plumber up to look at the boiler who said its not worth spending a lot on it but did manage to get it going. So their 1st night they had no TV/internet/phone (could'nt get it till tomorrow)no heating or hot water. The previous owner has taken all the curtains when SIL thought they were staying too. Also couldnt work the oven/hob as there isnt an instruction book but the controls look similar to mine and we were able to get them up and running.
TA,sorry to hear about DS.I hope things get a lot less stressful. We currently have both ours at home & they're in their mid 30s,both have had relationships broken down.DS2 has our 2 DGC so we get them half the time too,it can get interesting .
I feel a bit sorry for DH when after a full day at work he has to contend with the noise & mess 2 young children make but we wouldnt have it any different really (a bit quieter would be nice,I'm sure you understand)He has jst bought an ex council house which is pretty run down, though its not in a bad area-waiting to exchange contracts shortly. He'll certainly not be moving in any time soon though till a lot of works been done, and judging by how hard it was for him to get a mortgage on his own,I can't see DS1 moving out as he earns a lot less than DS2,self employed and working from home now after 2 redundancies,he'd struggle with rent too.Ah well it is as it is,& they do come in handy sometimes
Left over roast beef for tea, think theres still a bit of apple crumble left too, that'll be easy especially as DGS is due at 2.

TA sorry to hear of your troubles; I hope everything works out well in the end.
Coxy fingers and averything else I can manage crossed for you.
Sorry, got a touch of brainfog today, and everything else I've read is kind of jumbled in my mind, so just lets throw a load of posi-vibes out there, grab them as they reach you.
I've never watched Strictly (just not my cup of tea) so I don't have a scooby what any of you are talking about, but it sounds all very complicated! If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
