Our Economy 7 night storage heaters are old and not working great but i was wandering is it possible to get Eco 7 heaters that work like central heating that you can turn on and off and increase or decrease the heat when you want out there at a sensible price?

What do you mean by not working great?

Any new storage heaters will be no more efficient - defining efficiency in terms of producing more heat for the same running cost.

That said the biggest criticism of older storage heaters is they 'leak' heat more than newer models. Thus they can run out of heat in the evenings.

However the capital cost of replacing the heaters at £hundreds each will take a long time to recoup.
  • We swapped our storage heaters in the end for oil filled radiators. 5 years after we bit the bullet and went for central heating.
