cant sell the ex marital home as he has two young boys living there. His ex wife cannot afford to move and why should she? He has no interest in that house yet he is being penalised. Is that right???0

Hi OP,
I wonder if you could add your partner to the deeds of your house and make it jointly owned so when you sell you are both replacing your (owned) main residence and no additional stamp duty would be due.
Might take a little time though. Many mortgage providers require a place to have been owned for 6 months before they will offer a mortgage so your purchasers might be affected I'm not sure. Perhaps worth asking your solicitor about though.
