iPhone Friendly tariff

I was wondering if any one had found a good cashback tariff with data?

I want a GSM SIM with GPRS unlimited.

This is why (some nice SSH links at the foot of this page)

I've seen software that unlocks the iPhone and was thinking of picking one up in the US. Noticed that even when off it pulls down emails so they are ready for you to read, but there is no way of turning this off so when roaming the costs even when the phone is off will be high?!

I think Apple are launching the EU version soon as there is a press event this week at the regents street Apple store.

I thought with the $200 and the £1=$2 rate and the free unlock software it might be worth a go?

Recommend reading the howtos and keeping a backup copy of the firmware as Apple are bound to react. The unlocks survive current reflashes.

You have to jailbreak the iphone before running the unlock. Nice video here

The fixes seem to involve call the US cell provider?! which is no good for me living in the UK!

The rumours suggest that O2 will offer an unlimited data tariff to go with the iPhone, assuming they have the UK deal with Apple.

    thanks that's what I heard

I think the a data inclusive cash back plan + hacked iphone will be cheaper than the official iphone deal.

  • If you get the phone from the US be aware that there's only two networks in the UK that will support the 2.5G Edge network (faster the GPRS, slower than 3G) so your options are limited to O2 and Orange.

Orange offer 30MB for £8, which seems ok for a light user.

I did not want any wireless only voice and wifi until my virgin contract runs out in Jan 08.

    Does the iPhone do SMS?
