is the mileage stored on the ecu?

I asked Bristol Audi and they could only bring up one piece of service history. Got the service history from the dealer and it appears it has only had 2 services?

    Expedition service 2011: 16000 miles
    Service Sep 2009: 9000 miles

You mean you'd go with the latter, human error?
Yes, of course. Sorry, it was at the tail end of a long night shift!

    *Human error most likely.*
If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.

That would worry me far more than the anomalous MoT mileage, to be honest. 32k without a service? Hmmm.

Agreed. Over 5 years with low mileage. Oil will be beyond past it for those numbers.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Doesn't necessary mean it hasn't had a service, just that it hasn't been recorded....
  • How much of an issue is this? The garage said they have serviced it a couple of days ago and it runs fine now so presumably everything is ok now..?

And if you believe that when buying a car, I have a bridge you may be interested in ...

Obviously it may have been serviced, but in the absence of documentation, safest to assume not and act accordingly.

Hmm...a bit worrying. So what are the long term connotations if it hasn't?

Increased engine wear mostly, more chance of something going wrong. Has it been serviced now?

Also, how local is the previous owner? Can you pop by and ask them about it? Most will be happy enough to spend a few minutes explaining the history.

Mainly it's a sign of neglect - not something you want to see for a major purchase of a very complicated bit of machinery.
