You could do the only thing which ever gets anyone anywhere with Vodafone and follow the endlessly repeated instructions to contact the WRT on the main Vodafone complaints thread. Or you could wastge more of your time !!!!ing in the wind... though anything the WRT would do would be purely as a gesture.0 -
But how on earth could I have requested a pac if, as they say I never spoke to them in the first place :rotfl: Clearly someone in CS has dropped a gooly I suspect this is what happened
Your OP says they denied receiving a cancellation request, you made no mention of a denial of a PAC request.
If you feel so sure of your case and evidence why not send them a LBA and take them to court?====0 -

No they have never denied a pac request That statement was tongue in cheek. They deny having any record of a cancellation request despite apologising for continuing to demand further payments after my cancellation request back in 2015. As for the LBA it may well come to that. A quick browse through the VF Complaints thread(wow) tells me the simple solution of biting the bullet and paying them would not guarantee the problem would be over, such is the level of incompetence at VF CS0 -
Latest update.
I lodged an official complaint with the Voda CS Manager and after having no reply after 14 days I escalated the complaint to director level and today after 4 days had a call from Voda CS saying that as an exception they will waive any money outstanding and close the case with them and any third parties, however they say they will not amend the credit file. Any thoughts folks?0 -
If your description of what happened is as unconvincing as the actual there won't be much you can do. Either it was a notice to cancel or the request and use of a PAC. As was pointed out, contracts don't "expire" or require to be "renewed". Your lack of understanding of that plus the confused description of what actually happened would lead a reasonable person to believe that you assumed they would cancel and/or requested a PAC which you failed to exercise within 30 days. If it is interpreted that way Vodafone has been extremely generous.
The onous is now on you to prove that you actually gave proper notice OR requested and exercised a PAC without it cancelling any notice by subsequently requesting a PAC (if proper and clear notice was actually given). Whatever someone on the end of a phone at Vodafone told you at any given time can't be proved and - since they always fob you off with what you want to hear regardless of the truth - is unlikely to get you very far.
IF you can prove proper notice was given without being subsequently negated by the request for a PAC (which wasn't exercised or it woul have ended the contract) you can sue or try the Ombudsman - but your description leads me to suspect you won't get very far.0 -
Send a subject access request asking for copies of telephone calls and notes on the account
You could also take them to court requiring them to correct your credit file0 -
The annoying thing about this is they had ample opportunity to correct this situation a month after the the cancellation when I phoned them to ask why they were still taking payments but didnt do this instead saying "its a mistake ignore it you dont owe anything" Ah well probably not worth the hassle now as credit is not something I particularly need or am ever likely to need in the forseeable future. My partner is a forum admin with 10k members and will certainly pass on my experiences with this disreputable company who I was with for 15 years to his forum members.0

A lesson from this mess is to not cancel a direct debit as a knee jerk reaction. It does not cancel a contract.
If the OP had kept the DD in place, it would have indicated the contract was still running...0 -
No? So what are you to do when the bloke on the other end of the phone says forget about it, all is sorted. Do you think he maybe he is telling lies and say here help yourself to some more money even though you say the extra payments you took were a mistake and are going to refund me. At the end of the day nobody expects Voda to employ people who will resort to lies and say anything to make the problem go away and become someone else's problem. Older and wiser now. Mods please close the thread.0

Actually, most people on here would expect exactly that. And no - then you'd have realised immediately and done something about it when you should. Close the thread - because you don't like the answers?0
