Do I need a laptop?

With my second laptop looking like close to death with flimsy builds and HDD etc, I am questioning if I need the dam thing.
I use my phablet 99% of the time: eBay, email, Net, music, shopping etc
I use my laptop for my tax return once a year which I do with excel and store it via USB.
Would a tablet be suitable for this ..one that operated with ms products seamlessly?
Any cheap, but good recommendation? With good screen for occasional films?
Or try sort this laptop!?

If you really need to use a computer occasionally, why not just go to the library?0

Do libraries exist? Thought they're consigned to history? Soon will be.
I like to sit on my bed or sofa witj a cuppa. Not sure I can do that in a library0 -

You'd pay several hundreds of pounds just to avoid one single visit to a library?!
It might be cheaper to buy a laptop when you need to fill in your tax return, and then sell it the following day. That way it won't be sitting around all year depreciating.0 -
Brand name and model number of existing laptop?
What problems are you having?0 -
Just get an iPad. It can do everything you said.0

I have an ipad. I also recently bought one of these...

I got mine off ebay for £120 with a case.
It's much more versatile than an ipad.0 -
If you are stuck on the idea of a Tablet: http://mcscom.co.uk/product/dell-venue-11-pro-7130-intel-core-i3-4020y-1-5ghz-4gb-ram-128gb-ssd-hdd-10-8-full-hd-touch-panel-win-8-1/
I would just sort the laptop, cheaply.0 -

Silly you!
Who said one single visit?
I fill in excel PERIODICALLY and like to watch film as I said.
Do libraries still exist? They're closing nationally?
Are they open Sundays?
Are they on my doorstep?
Are they open at 10pm when I work?
Do they have a nice sofa and bed to lie on when I work?
Can I drink copious amounts of tea and biscuits in there?
Please think.0 -

I would just sort the laptop, cheaply.
I saw these recommend here, look good.
Given I've had enough of windows, I think that has it built in?
Not sure if win tablets will mess up like my win laptops have.
Are android tablets BETTER than win laptops?0
