I've said that to myself every day for the last few years. I can count on one hand the number of complete journeys I've made where I've had reason to doubt I'm right.

As for my advice: if the lunatic behind you was driving at the speed they wanted to, they'd be more likely to kill a pedestrian. If you drove at the speed they wanted you to, you'd be the one more likely to kill a pedestrian.
It's for you to decide whether I make that point too bluntly, but it's accurate advice which wouldn't be forgotten in a hurry.0 -
Not just "no texting" as that can be interpreted too literally. No doing ANYTHING on your smartphone while driving - no texting, no facebooking, no instagramming, no whatsapping, nothing.Mr.Generous wrote: »NO TEXTING when driving. You forgot to mention 'no phone calls'.

On top of saying to assume that everyone else diving is an idiot, I'd say that, sometimes they are idiots, sometimes it is yourself. Recognise your own faults as well as those of others, then you'll be more calm and also able to learn from your own mistakes.0

Good point. I would add: every time you have a near miss or a 'moment', don't say "why did that idiot do that?", ask "what could I have done to make myself safe around idiots like that?" and treat every one as a learning experience, not something to laugh about in the pub later. If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

What a great caring parent well done. I'm sure with your sensible support and love she will have full respect.0
