I think our best plan of action would be to find someone willing to share with you BEFORE you find a place and have both of you on the agreement, that way you split the rent 50/50, either that or just go ahead with the sub let, not tell the landlord and risk eviction

Sharing with a couple is NOT fun! I very much doubt you'll find someone wanting to share, and most leases won't allow you to sub-let. Maybe if you rent a 2 bed 2 bathroom apartment, then share with another couple wanting to save money on rent? If you're doing this though, don't forget students don't pay council tax, so you might have to offer to still split it 4 ways...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • I rent out a house to a couple and a guy on his own. They've been renting like that for about three years, so the dynamics can work OK (they all knew each other before living together though)

Do tell your landlord what you are planning and doing. I didn't object when asked as I was happy to get the rent paid, and we had a new agreement made up with all names on it. Had I found out that my property was being sub-let I wouldn't have been happy at all.

My gf isn't earning as she is at university, therefore I would be paying the rent on my own. She would chip in as and when she could which is why were looking at the 3rd person option.

Most students have to pay rent though. Surely she'll have enough money with loans etc to contribute something?
