  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, sun is out but there is quite a breeze so not feeling warm at all.

OH wants to start putting preservative on the fence and gate we had put in this year. I have the Friday clean to do, first time for a few weeks its actually been done on FRiday, have to move the table etc in the kitchen so I can wash the floor.

Towels felt damp this morning so they are on the line, hopefully they will dry better once we have the heating in. just 2 weeks on Monday....

Sunday will be a sad day for us, it would have been DS2's 46th birthday. I expect 'she who is brilliant' will put a screed on facebook.....not that I will know, I have unfriended her after the last vitriolic messages. Sad but it had to be done. Nicholas may have been her father but he was our son, she just does not take account of that.

Fish, mustard mash and the last of the green beans for supper, the plum crumble went down well last night, enough for tonight left.
  • Mmm one of the best things about the weather turning nippier are casseroles, and a liver and bacon casserole nice and thick and gloopy with veg sounds delicious to me :)
This afternoon I have history club and we are going to learn about Nye Bevan so it should be interesting.

DD's new lurcher dog is off to the vets this morning to have his bits snipped off, he will be back to his usual self by the time we go away for the weekend in November though.

This morning I am going to catch up on all the ironing so I have the weekend free to relax and do what I fancy :) Last day of the month and I have around £14 odd to put into the holiday fund left over from my food budget purse :):)

Hope Ozzie is Ok Furryoz, dumpling well done on your trip out you are getting on so well. r/r good luck to your DD on her new job

Camelot I am looking out of my window at the sun on the River Medway there was a tiny sprinkle of rain yesterday morning ,but not enough to even stop my gardener from mowing my lawn. The grass is so brown at the moment we could do with a bit of rain down in the south.

gers well done with your dementia lady, and look on your outings with the lady as an interesting day, you probably give her something more than you will ever know just by listening to her.

All too often people think of dementia folk as uninteresting ,but my ex-neighbour God rest him, used to stand at the gate and peer into the far distance and shade his eyes and tell my OH 'Can't see any planes today Alan, we should be safe".

When my OH spoke to his wife it turned out that he was on Mediterranean convoy ships during WW2 as a young 19 year old boy and spent a lot of his time up aloft 'spotting' My OH would say "That's great Sid, would you like me to get you a cuppa ?"
"Yes that would be great ,I need something to keep my alert and awake"

Bless him he hadn't always been an old man staring at the sky and being ignored, he had been a young man who fought for his country (he actually had been rescued from the sea when one of the ships went down)
My late OH had a lot of time for this old sailor and always listened to what he had to say.
Now they are both gone ,but I like to think that those few minutes in the morning when Sid would go to the gate and watch, and my OH chatted to him as a person, and not as a daft old man as some thought of him made a little difference to his life. perhaps you have made this lady feel a person again, well done .

Right time to get the kettle on

    Have a good day chums

    Morning all,

Thinking about you FurrybeastOz and hoping that Ozzie will be ok,poor lad xx
Looks like a nice day here, clear but cool, there was condensation on the windows this morning. My DB and family are moving house today,it was uncertain as they only exchanged contracts yesterday so he was panicking a bit.I've offerd my services if they need me for cleaning, they seem to think their new house will be mucky as the couple relocated and havent been in it for a while, there was still stuff left in too.I'll miss them being round the corner, not like we were always round or anything but would bump into him dogwalking or on the park with DGC.

Watching godsons band was good last night though we got caught up in football traffic, good job our friend is always early :D
I can put the coats back now the electrician has finished putting the lights at the top of the cellar steps.DH has put the coat hooks a bit higher too.I bought a bargain bathroom blind at Dun elm -a fiver so hopefully he'll do that too.

DGC tonight :),think I may need to pop out for a few bits of shopping.Anyway love to all,Csarina hugs for Sunday xx

I hope Ozzie is fine Furrybeast. Well done on your outing dumpling. Congratulations to your DD RR.

I may be going down to DD's this morning with some cardboard boxes. They need to pack up some things before work starts on their house and they are all collapsed in our loft (we've never used them but both DS nd DD have and we know DS will be moving in the next couple of years). I just need to speak to her to see if she wants me.

Apart from that not a lot is going on, I heard from the newly weds last night, they are now in Verona, having loved Capri, but are moving on to the Dolomites and then Venice over the last week of what they are calling their mini-moon. I would have though 3 weeks travelling round Italy would qualify as a proper honeymoon but apparently not. It's funny how things have changed, we had our kids young and are now indulging in a bit of travelling, both my two have done some travelling and intend to have children later.
  • Morning everyone,

May I start by thanking you all on the well done messages from yesterday, very kind and I you helped me along the journey, so thank you.

Yesterday evening I was a black tie dinner which cost me £10 for the taxi there and £3.50 for my first drink while I waited on others arriving. I had a terrific night and sat at a table with some very important people in the sports industry which was beneficial for my new job.

The joys of yesterday are soon forgotten however as my gran called my mum at 3am complaining she really wasn't feeling well - gastroenteritis is the suspected reason. I'm desperate to get home and visit her.

In the meantime, I've work to contend with so I best be going.

FurryBeast - Hope your cat gets better soon.
RedRuby - Great news about your DD!!
Gers - Well I suppose it's a good thing that the story wasn't true.
Jackie - You always have the ability to make me smile in the mornings. What a lovely story.

    Afternoon everyone

So much for trying to have a cheap shop today - turned up at the MrA**is and a sign saying CASH ONLY, as they had a problem with the card taking facilities, they don't have a cash point. Decided to go round the corner to the MrA**as - at least I'd be able to get everything in 1 shop - wrong!, although they weren't busy, some shelves were quite empty, but somehow managed to spend rather more than I'd hoped. I did get 3 x tubs of Heros to put away for xmas pressies and also they had big boxes of dishwasher tabs on offer, so although the spend looks high, some bits bought out of the normal. I am however hoping that next week I can really cut back as I have a very full storecupboard, so we'll see. I have got the chicken casserole cooking away in the slow cooker so that should be cooked nicely for later making a nice easy dinner, load of washing is on the line and another in the WM as we speak, hope to get it line dried. Wind has picked up again here and it's very blustery.

Thanks for the thought of me joining the GC, I have done it in the past but am rather ashamed at how much we spend on food, want to get a bit of a grip on it before I bare all!

Spent some time yesterday also looking through some recipes, so printed some off, will be trying some of those out shortly.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Hello, am having a productive day but not going out as mouth is quite sore.

    FurryBeast I'm sending positive vibes.

I'm quite cold, might have to find some socks! I'd shut the kitchen window if I could but the handle fell off
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Thanks for all the good wishes. Unfortunately Ozzie has crossed the rainbow bridge. He was in pain and didn't respond to a drip so it wasn't fair to keep him going. Thankfully DH was sent home from work so we could both be there at the end.

There is a huge Ozzie shaped hole at the bottom of the stairs. They asked if we wanted his ashes - DH said, not if we have to scatter them in his favourite spot!

Everyone with your own dogs (and other pets), give them a big hug from me tonight please. And Docky - if yeewz see a lassie type doggie looking lawst, show himz where the Dentastix and sawsages are pleese.
