Changing a Thomson flight

We've booked flights with Thomson and now want to change the dates of travel due to work commitments. The flights are in mid-Dec and are over £880 for the two of us. The date we want to change to, three days earlier, would be less than £300. However, Thomson's T&C's state that we have to pay 70% of the cost of the tickets to make any change which works out at over £580. Other airlines charge an admin fee of between £15 and £40 per person. As we bought the tickets on line, do we have any rights re distance selling etc? Is there any way around this punitive charge?
Thanks
John

Some airlines wouldn't refund anything.0 -
Some airline tickets don't even allow changes. Some charge a few hundred £s change fees. The cheaper the ticket the less flexible it is as a rule.
Charters and budget airlines have different ticket terms though, and most do allow changes, for a fee. You agreed to their conditions of carriage when you booked the flights. There's not a lot you can do other than in future be sure you agree with the terms you are contracting to, before you book.0 -
Have you actually called them to ask if a change is possible and at what cost?0
