I'm afraid that Norton is now in control of your computer and will harm you if you try and remove it. You mad a mistake by installing it, for all eternity you will pay the price. Norton! It is forever!Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Well it's done but not without issues. Firstly despite having uninstalled, ran removal tool, removed removal tool and used ccleaner to remove registries Kaspersky still found Norton while installing. Luckily it removed it ok, I hope. Then Kaspersky took an absolute age to install, after this the activation would not work. I was pulling my hair out but then thought if I log in to Kaspersky I might be able to input the code with the copy I have bought. That bit worked but then I thought I had made a mistake doing that. I guess I should have realised it wouldn't impact on my problem. Having tried everything I could think of I hit the option under activate code which said delete activation code. I did this and then had the ability to put the code from the copy I bought into it. This worked. The downside is I have been robbed of my free month.
The next issue was kaspersky said 3 things needed updating on the PC. 2 updated fine but adobe 10 failed. I decided to do it within adobe 10. I noticed it is already the version Kaspersky was trying to update it to. Anyway I hit check for updates and it tells me this version is no longer supported and do I want the new version. When I went to the page it wanted to know my operating system. Sadly every operating system since the dawn of time was listed apart from mine. So I can't update adobe reader.0 -
usually the best method of finding the up-to-date versions of free software is to check your versions against those listed on filehippo.com......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

Don't bother, uninstall it and use a much better PDF reader:

oddly the software updater function on my new security has just downloaded and installed the latest version of adobe reader even though it is not supposed to be compatible with my os. it seems to work fine as well.0

updater function on your new security? An AV that does anything more than detect for virus files is not something you want same with a firewall program, it should prevent intruders and malicious software connecting, nothing more.
If it want to updates your software or optimise your system etc then all it really wants is to spy on you and share your data.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Norton and Mcafee uninstalls can become problematic as they use a lot of propriety dll's and files. It's when you get issues with these that failure to uninstall occur.
Personally I use Revo uninstaller for everything regardless. It does a good job getting the temps and other related files as well. I think Norton and Mcafee have cleaned up their act (pun not intended) of late. I managed to uninstall Mcafee and Norton from new machines out the box I was setting up the other day without it giving the old issues.0 -

I would have done it through the software itself but it was claiming it no longer supports my os. As a result my security updated it and I now do have the functioning latest version of adobe reader. I will be looking at other PDF readers as suggested though. Theres no reason to think my security is upto no good, it is a reputable security software.0 -

When I ran th Norton removal tool it removed a few things and then dropped off the screen. I assumed it was done. However as I think I said The new security picked up Norton anti virus while installing and removed it for me. I haven't had many issues with the new security. Well nothing is perfect. Overall I feel things are performing better than before.0
