    Hi,

I have just flown from LHR to Paris Orly - flight was just over 1 hour - I got the smallest coffee ever, as well as a packet of nuts ... not worth it.

If they start charging I wouldn't bother.

That's the exact point. I travel to Germany reasonably frequently and my flight used to be on Lufthansa, but is now Eurowings (their LCC subsidiary).

Of the people who have bought the 'Basic' fare, VERY few people buy any food. (On EasyJet you see a few more people, but Eurowings is a more 'BA'-like demographic).

So I think in practice very few people will buy the food. If anything it's M&S who'll lose out on this deal.

The very short hops, like Manchester or London to any airport less than two hours away it's hardly worth the trouble of serving even a coffee.

Over a couple of hours, maybe a coffee would be appreciated. Not the horrible snacks, though.

It's the drinks that annoy me! - If they'd removed the snacks then I couldn't care less. But taking away my mini-bottle of red wine (I usually used to manage to get two...) from me at the end of a long day?! - evil....

I'm surprised any airline still serves nuts these days

They are very definitely not PEAnuts :-) It's usually a very safe blend of cashews, pecans and stuff...

I've definitely been served a bag of roasted peanuts with the round of drinks after takeoff on a long haul flight recently - was it Singapore Airlines..?

Try flying with Malaysian. It's a veritable nutfest.

    Singapore are similar. Peanuts everywhere.

You'll still be able to get nuts on BA too (not peanuts), they will just cost you £1.60 from 11 January in short haul economy...
  • The onboard snack never made me fly BA anyway

The fact i'm flying from LHR was what made me fly BA - I find T5 an absolute dream to get through with the family.

I'll quite miss the breakfast between Edinburgh and London early flights although it doesn't actually look inviting but if you have been on the road since 5.30 anything is welcome.

For info, got my Avios for a flight booked next year, no quibble. It's a shame that I have seen some people who don't know this is on offer saying "what are you going to do to compensate me" on twitter and they are getting pushed back with a 'these were complimentary anyway" response. But if you ask for the Avios, you get them.
