Truecrypt....complicated?

Hmmmm.....?
I have just downloaded truecrypt to my desktop although I have not yet unzipped the files.
I have however, been reading through the beginners tutorial on the truecrypt website, and not being a teccy, geeky or thick kind of guy, it does seem kind of complicated.
I have therefore not yet managed to mount anything on my truecrypt volume.... eh?....
I small amount of assistance would be nice, and it would help if it were in plain, boring, common or garden, basic, English.
Cheers

If you go through the step by step example guide in the documentation you should get the hang of it.
Another quick (4) step guide:

Hi superscaper and EvilScotsman
I shall peruse both links and report back in due course, (probably a couple of days)
I hope to have mounted some files and created my truecrypt volume by then
.....eh?

Get this
I have just finished mounting my first folder
Rest assured, it won't be the last
Another question,
when I back up my system I plug in a usb hard drive and 'select all' in my documents (cos that is where all of my stuff is stored) and I then select copy to the external hard drive.
Will all my truecrypt stuff be copied as well or do I have to do something else?
My truecrypt folder is in my documents.

To be honest I haven't had the time to really get into Truecrypt yet but it does have fantastic features and I definitely will do. I'm glad you managed to get through your first encryption ok."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Just remember that refusal to hand over the decryption key to the coppers means two years of porridge.0

Yes copying your truecrypt file onto your usb disk will back it up, there is nothing special you need to do.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
