Notice to vacate

The Hi,

I am renting at the moment and given my 2 months notice to vacate to the EA who is managing the flat. I have received an email back from the EA to say they will send me a Section 21 notice. Why would they send me this if I have decided to move out?

TIA

Ignorance? Slow day at the office? Maybe they can charge the landlord for sending one? Who knows? Take your pick. :)

So i am correct in thinking they should not be issuing this to me?

I have the landlords address so I can send her a letter.

Perhaps they like to put the final nail in the coffin. To make sure you leave, they will give you a shove for good measure!

They are sending s21 so that should you inexplicably & unexpectedly fail to depart when you said you would they/landlord can evict you through the courts.

As it happens if your notice was valid s21 would be the wrong notice/process but...

I have just emailed them asking why they have sent it?

They know I am buying a house especially as its the same EA and completing in Oct so I will definitely have moved out by the end of the notice period.

Ah, then maybe they know something about your potential purchase that you don't........

If op fails to move out they are liable for double rent, why evict ??
  • Just ignore it, I suspect you have enough on your plate right now. If they want to be silly enough to issue a S21 when it serves no purpose that's their problem. It doesn't effect you - even if you were still there at the end of the notice period you'd have another couple of months before they could officially evict you through the courts and no reason from what you say to do that right now.

I will see what they respond with. But will ignore if they do issue it.

    Thanks all for your help.
