Trying to get a refund from De Agostini magazine publishers.

Options
I wonder if any one can help me, last year I decided to subscribe to dinosaur and friends for my son as a treat as he has been poorly and in and out of hospital and thought it would be nice for him to have some thing to look forward to each month.

each month they sent 4 books and some dinosaur toys.

when I subscribed I opted to pay £1 extra per issue to get a digital edition of each book. So I could download them on to his tablet. as thought it would be nice for him to have them on his tablet so he can read them when in hospital. Easier than lugging heavy books back and forth to hospital.

After subscribing we received the books and toys each month but never received any information about how to access digital editions of the books. I emailed them and they told me I need to download their digital editions app. I did this but it asks for log in details that I have never been given.

I contacted De Agostini again and they emailed me some log in details, but what they gave me was not what it was asking for to log in and did not work.

I have contacted them many more times to complain and they just keep saying they will get back to me but never do.

We have been subscribed for well over a year and are nearly at the end of subscription. I have paid nearly £100 for digital editions that have never been able to access. I no longer want the digital editions and just want a refund for what I have not received or had access to.

I have contacted them again to complain and have asked for a refund but they just keep saying they have passed my complaint on to there IT department to look in to and will get back to me.

that was 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing.

Am I entitled to a refund of what I paid for digital editions as never received or had access to digital editions. If so what should my next step be. the only contact details I have are there customer service email and telephone number both of which are a a waste of time.

does any one know any other contact details or there head office address/ telephone number.

do you think I stand any chance of getting my money back or am I wasting my time. £100 might not seem a lot to some people but its a lot too me.

I paid each month by debit card dont know if this helps.

any advice would be much appreciated

thanks in advance

if its an extra £1 for a digital edition and you have subscribed for 12 months you have only paid £12 extra, not £100.

Have you received books every month?

Then why would they say £100.00 and not £12.00 as most people would write off £12.00 and not bother complaining so your post here is not correct.

read the OP, they say "when I subscribed I opted to pay £1 extra per issue to get a digital edition of each book."

they would need to have had 100 issues to have paid ££100 extra

It's very correct, op states £1 PM extra and been subscribed for well over a year, but 100 months is over 8 years so it still doesn't add up. Op need to clarify the time span but there is no way it's been over 8 years.

Sorry if I was not clear in original post but I never said any where £1 per month and have just re read my origonal post so not sure where you got that from. its £1 extra per issue not per month. issues are weekly. so 4 or 5 per month depending on if it is a 4 or 5 week month.

1 book is 1 issue, instead of sending out weekly they send out monthly so send 4 -5 issues per month in one go. so pay £4-£5 extra per month.

we are currently at issue 80. So 80 x £1 = £80 so sorry I was abit out its £80 extra for digital editions. and for some reason they are still charging my when issue 80 is meant to be last one.

like said in original post I have received the physical books and toys I just have not received the digital editions that I have paid £1 extra per issue for.

    hope this helps

    thanks.
  • And there we go Bris and Baza52 as per my post they stated £100.00 and not £12.00 so would be very unlikely to complain too much at the £12.00 loss as opposed nearer side of the £100.00 one.

I'd write in again and address it for the editor if you can find a point of contact that is.

There you go, you DID say £1 per month extra.
  • Baza52 you only had to read between the lines to see what the OP meant as did I.

Baza52 you only had to read between the lines to see what the OP meant as did I.

but op also says in first lines "thought it would be nice for him to have some thing to look forward to each month."

to me that suggested they were monthly issues.
  • I have clearly come to the wrong forum, I came her for help not for people to be rude. But obviously people here just want to be rude rather than help. You jumped to the conclusion of 1 per month just becuae I said they send 4 books per month. I clearly stated as you highted £1 per issue.

Stevie Palimo thank you for being the only one to want to try and help.
