Extras with Jelson Homes

Hi,

Has anyone brought a new build with Jelson homes and have a rough idea of costs for extras?

Just wanted to gather my thoughts and get a rough calculation so I know how much I need to be saving.

Thanks,
Anisha

General rule of thumb ... paying for extras from the developer will cost more and generally be of lesser quality than doing so privately. You're paying for the convenience of it all being done before you move in. :)

As Jelson build in a large radius from their Leicester base, the cost of extras will depend on where you are buying and the cost of house/house type.

    And I agree with bod1467
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Thank you Jelson. The house type is a 3 bed detached property in Birstall.

The phew that I had in mind were:

    - Upgrading Plug Sockets
    - Fitted Wardrobes
    - Shower in Main Bathroom and extension of Tiling
    - Ceramic floor tiles in both bathrooms
    - Access door to garage
    - Power light to Garage
    - Shower screen in main bathroom
    - Chrome Towel radiators
    - TV points to bedrooms.

Tiling and wardrobes will probably be cheaper outsourced.

Can't see any point in upgrading plug sockets.

I would just ask Jelson for individual prices for the rest, then start negotiating

I can't believe this even exists.A plug socket is a plug socket!

I also cannot believe you have to pay extra for a power source to the garage just to get light in it. !!!!!!!?

    Unless it's a separate, standalone garage? (Highly unlikely, but ... ) :)

Some people like chrome finish sockets rather than bog standard white plastic ones. Even so, they're dead easy to fit anyway.
  • I've recently done my extras with Taylor Wimpey and some of the prices were eye-watering. I too wanted chrome towel radiators in my bathroom until I found out they were £510 for two!
