The MP was very positive. In brief he said he had read all MOT's papers that she had forwarded to him and whilst he could see that on rent arrears alone the LA had justification for declaring her intentionally homeless, he did not feel they had fulfilled their duty of care to a vulnerable family. He said that they had not taken due consideration of MOT's GP report and also that they were wrong to try and rely on a report from NOW Medical who simply wrote their report on the basis of a form completed by the GP. Neither had the LA given due attention to NOW's contention that it would be 'prudent to arrange for a phsycitric examination.' They (LA) had also failed to pass this information to MOT. MP said whilst Housing was not part of his remit he was prepared to fight in MOT's corner. To this end he would be speaking to the Chief Exec of the Council. He suggested we write a letter detailing the LA's failings with regard to the medical report and for not taking due consideration of the effect MOT's depression had on her inability to manage her finances. He said we could let him see the letter first so that he could suggest any changes; that this letter should be sent to the LA this week and that he would also write a letter to them. He said that we were now 'At War' and he expected that she would be offered accomodation. He did however say that what they offered may not be to her liking, be insufficient accomodation for her needs and possible in a not very nice area but, she should accept whatever they offered and then he would campaign on her behalf for better accomodation on the basis of unsuitability. He also added that he believed the temporary accomodation MOT and the twins were in now was illegal in view of the ages of the twins and their different gender; that they should not be sharing the same bedroom. He told MOT not to worry about eviction from this temporary flat as he would personally ensure the LA complied with their duty of care. It was amazingly positive and more than either of us expected. He seems a really genuine man and was horrified by MOT's treatment. Let us hope he wasn't talking through the orifice in his derriere.

I knew he'd give you much more detail ;););)

I was thinking today when your story hits the paper do readers have the opportunity of writing to voice there opinions. In our local paper you can and can do this on-line. Me thinks all MSE who read it should look to comment on it and lets see what happens then:D

Enjoy your weekend:j The light gets ever brighter:T

Thankyou IT - a full and sensibly tempered post, as always.
What's happened with the 3rd/17th Appeal date confusion?
Surely not going ahead on Monday? Sorry if I've missed something somehow(though have read assiduously).
Oh, I hope they sing 'Adam Lay A-Bounden' amid the Carols - if you don't know it already(good old Middle-Ages number), BEAUTIFUL.
    Night everyone.
