  • Thanks guys.

Had a lovely day out, and only spent at Screwfix on the way home - £15 for some necessary DIY jobs that DH will be doing tomorrow. Listed an item on fleabay so fingers crossed 🤞 that sells.

Will prep dinner shortly - lamb steaks, roasties and cauli cheese. Yum scrum. Oohhh forgot to say sold an item on FB selling group - £11 to add to the pot when she collects tomorrow :T

  • The postman today brought us a tax refund cheque for £280, thanks HMRC :j (it's very very rare I say that!). The most exciting bit, though, was when I told DH and his response was 'well why don't you make that lump sum OP you've been wittering about, and the taxman is basically paying the penalty amount' :money:

Well I nearly fell off my chair that DH has a) actually been listening to all of my wittering :rotfl: and b) that he didn't just say 'ooooh, free money, lets go out for a meal / go shopping /'. How his mindset has changed! He's always been on board but in a kind of 'you sort it all out dear and I'll just nod my head and go along with it' way.

As I said up thread, the psychological need to be under £100k is huge for me. Don't ask why, it just is. Something to ponder on tomorrow that's for sure x

  • Morning All

On my second cup of tea already, having been up since 5.45 with DS

I've done a fair amount of tidying, putting rubbish out etc and now watching Frozen with him. We have one big life "thing" that should be resolved within the next week or so - until that's done, I won't have enough peace of mind to make the big OP. But once it's done, we will be making the payment :D

    Have marvellous days all xx

Fantastic on the refund and the mindset change in doors. Love that :)
    Hope 'life thing' settles
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

  • Thanks ladies. Life carp still not sorted, more nagging emails sent to those involved to resolve.

Sold item on Facebook group and an eBay item went for £20 so that's in the pot. Utterly exhausted today, just back from kiddie swimming lessons and want to collapse in heap but must feed and water everyone then do some more work for DH business. Early to bed tonight I think!

  • Life stuff still niggling away - very very frustrating! Yet more emails sent.

Managed to wrap most of the Christmas presents this morning which feels good. It's all about the lego for our kids this year, thankfully the grandparents are buying that as it's soooo expensive!

Looking forward to the New Year and getting back into the swing of OPing, I've really missed it!

Busy busy few days working for DH business.

VAT return done (£11k owed), tax returns done and submitted (£2.5k owed), basically we owe lots in January! All accounted for thankfully, oh but how I would like to use that money to OP instead!

So it's Friday night, DH is out with his mate at the pub (me, jealous? Never....), kiddies are eating a pizza and I've just ordered a takeaway for delivery at 7 :D

Should be MSE and turn the heating off, but the wood burner needs a sweep and I really CBA so heating it is.

Life sh!te still niggling, part of which is a non payer for DH business. We get one a year on average, always around this time too. Sigh.

On a very MSE note, I am going to attempt to home colour my hair tomorrow, wish me luck! Also DD needs a new coat, so am scouring charity shops for one age 6-7. Might get lucky!
