Iceland Currency

Can anyone advise me on where to get Icelandic currency?
Also, is it better to buy in Iceland or in GB?
Thanks.

Don't buy any. Cards are used for payment more than cash, and any kr!nur you want can be obtained from an ATM, initially in the airport on arrival. To save money on non-sterling fees obtain a suitable card such as Revolut or those recommended here:

Whilst it's true as someone else posted that cards are accepted for almost everything in Iceland I still prefer to have some cash as well. I got mine from the post office, but be aware you have to order it. I think they said to allow up to 3 days. I am not sure how the rate compares to what you can get in Iceland though.

I read somewhere that the rate is better at a bank than the airport.

Went to Iceland last November a little sceptical of advice like this and fully expected to buy currency whilst there but it's really not necessary, no one expects you to pay cash for anything. My other half went to a public toilet that had a nominal charge and you could even pay for that with a card.

It would be for buying cash, but you are not doing that. You are putting your card in an ATM and getting the ideal Visa/MasterCard or interbank rate if you have the right card, or with some fees if not. But for the small amount of cash you might need it probably hardly matters.

It's a pointless hassle and expense, buying cash that you hardly need at the Post Office lousy rates, when you can just put your card in an ATM...
