We went up to Manchester from Gloucestershire for a prize . It was a mascot experience at man city for our daughter so worth the 4 hr drive each way! She loved it and I was in hubbys good book for weeks! I think that would probably be our limit unless it was a big prize though!

I would too, that's a 'money can't buy' experience! (my Smalls are all too tall for that!)

  • It depends on the prize really. I'm quite lucky in the fact that I'm regularly in 3 different towns locally and in Cardiff everyday so if there's a collection anywhere around there I'm fine. My parents also live in Merseyside so if there's a collection in Liverpool/Manchester or surrounding areas I'd have accommodation and kill two birds with one stone with a family visit too. Anything else would have to be a higher value prize for me to travel outside of an hour for realistically.

I won a partridges hamper last Christmas, something like £250 worth of food, it was up in London and I'm in Thanet.. so £20 and 3 hours there and back on the train.. food was delicious and definitely worth the trip. Got a really beautiful wicker hamper basket out of it which is still useful now but that's the furthest I've gone for a win.
  • I always look and judge where abouts in the UK it is and how far I'm willing to go and how worth while it is. We have to travel from up north to London for flights next year, it will add 2 x hotel stays and trains to London to the prize but I don't mind whatsoever :D:D
  • Depending on prize of course I'd say maybe a 4-5 hour drive or less. Given where I live a lot of the UK is tricky to get to quickly and/or cheaply. The comps that annoy me are the comps to win a short break in Cornwall (of which I have noticed there are tons) as although I'd really like to see Cornwall, the cost of getting there would probably be about the same as a cheapo last minute holiday to the Med so sadly I choose to leave them!

I actually won a trip with my local airport and spoke to the marketing manager who said he was pleased to see I had been picked at random as most winners they get are from hundreds of miles away and most of the time they don't want the prize as the flights are always from said remote airport. He seemed baffled by this, I knew better :p

It depends, I'm in Newport (Wales) and I always check the cost of travel (I don't drive) before entering any collection-only or hotel stays / days out. That said, the Megabus is £5 a trip at certain time so £10 for a nice win I don't mind. I've had to pay almost £20 for train tickets (for me & the kiddies) to pick a parcel up from Rhadyr in cardiff that was a win. I do try to make the day of it though, so the prize is an extra bonus :)
    Thanks to all posters :A

I'm also a non driver and on a low income so would only travel locally or to Cardiff as I have family there so can combine it with a visit home, saying that i have entered one for McArthur Glen Bridgen & Swindon because they are relatively easy to get to as long as the prize is more than the travel cost
