"Troubled airline"?
No wonder it's troubled with all these doom laden rumours flying about.
I still question the motives of the OP.0 -
It's a load of hogwash. This should never been in the news as 40 people got some rumours and posted on Twitter and FB.
I flew back home with them yesterday and a passenger collapsed minutes before take off. Plane moved away from runway whilst flight attendants and later airport medical staff took over and subsequently removed ill passenger and checked in suitcase. Was about 1.5 hours late. Everyone behaved themselves. Had a horrible feeling that someone would kick off. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. What's the relevance?
Some idiot may have kicked off and blamed the rumours for the passenger to become ill. If the plane flew from one of the Costa airports, chances are someone would have kicked off. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Do you believe this?
Really?
I saw a -imho- deplorable post on Tripadvisor that stated as fact that Monarch had ceased trading.
The OP later apologised for posting misinformation.
But to what extent is this damage to the airline & tour operator?0 -

Because people are now less likely to book with Monarch. Just in case it all goes wrong and they are left with no flights.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. This was more than just unfounded rumour. Monarch's licence is up for renewal, and as part of that process the CAA would assess their financial liquidity to handle negative events (similar to the bank stress tests we read about).
The Monarch statement talked about their profitability, which there is no reason to doubt, but also pretty much admitted they were short of cash. That's what would have concerned the CAA when they looked at the books and led to the thing that meant this was not unfounded. Several aircraft were chartered and sent to Monarch destinations, including two United 747s sent from the US to Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife. The CAA would not have done that without a reasonable level of concern, at the same time it did not mean the airline was definitely going under.
Fortunately, the smoke did not turn into fire, those chartered aircraft haven't been needed. Perhaps Monarch's owners have come up with the cash or secured funding somehow. Let's hope they survive and thrive, for both passengers and staff (many of whom took pay cuts a couple of years ago to help keep the airline going).0 -

I don't know any details re. Monarch but would doubt any alleged 'facts' in the Daily Express :rotfl:0
