Looks like that is only available if travel is completed by 1st November.
    Hadn't spotted that.
I wonder why they're stopping it?
Maybe it was costing them too much or maybe it wasn't popular/little demand

  • Thanks for the replies everyone.
Can I just point out that if I could afford the 'luxury' of business class I wouldn't be asking the question!
Business class on the flight we need is more than double the economy price, so even if we have to purchase the extra seat, economy is JUST within affordability!

............ and how exactly will it affect you if someone does get an extra seat?

Overall higher fares , that seat has to be paid for one way or another so yes it does impact on other travellers.

    Would Premium Economy work.
Do you both have to sit together?

The op had come here for help , not judgement.
I don't personally suffer any of those conditions, but you never know what life is going to throw at you.

    Cake? ;)

No offence intended, but I do agree that obesity should not be a reason for a free additional seat. A long haul flight or exotic holiday could be a good incentive to lose weight perhaps? I know how uncomfortable it can be travelling in economy when you're on the larger side. I hope something is sorted on the disability side of it though, and that OP comes back to let us know what the airline can suggest.

I thought elements of this sounded familiar........

Obviously none of the suggestions made in the OP's earlier thread suited.

You would need to contact the airline to find out what their criteria are for free extra seats. I can't imagine that they would also give you an additional seat too though, couldn't you use the time before you fly to lose a little weight to make the journey more comfortable?

I'm confused! If long legged people have to pay extra to get more leg room, why should obese people get a whole extra seat for free? Surely the latter if anything has a bit more control over doing something about their body size?
  • Hi,
Yes that is my thread and I have sorted that.
This question is about the Air Canada 'free' seat policy and if anyone knows more about it.
    Entirely different question.
I'm probably going to be asking more questions about this trip as it's something I've never done before!
    Hope that's ok?
  • Can I just clarify that my question was about the policy on Air Canada for disabled and obese people - that's what the page on the website says. Whilst I am classed as obese I can sit in a normal size (and the smaller charter plane) seats and use the seatbelt so I'm ok to do that. I was asking with relation to my husband and his disabilities, I certainly wouldn't be expecting to qualify myself.
Oh, and whilst it's not in relation to me, some people are obese due to medical reasons and there's not a great deal they can do. Obese isn't just a case of 'let's eat all the cakes'!!!!
