Goldcar - Nice, France

After wandering around the terminal entrance to meet someone to take us to our car (after not being told it was terminal 2, not one that we needed to be at, which we found out from the airport ... not Gold Car. We eventually reached the office and I was blatantly lied to at the office in Nice. After insisting that I take out the additional insurance of 27 Euros a day (which I didn't take). The attendant at the office said that I had to pay £115 Euros for the Fuel. She said that if we returned the car with a full tank of fuel, the full amount would be returned to us. I made her repeat this twice to ensure I knew what we were paying for and what we would be refunded BEFORE we paid it (I wish I got it in writing!). When we returned the car, the guy that checked it said that we would not need to stand in the queue, and that we could go to catch our flight, the money would be refunded automatically. We only received 77Euros on the refund, and I was then told AFTERWARDS that there was 8 Euros I had to pay in diesel tax (what ?? I returned ALL the fuel, so why am I being taxed ??) and a “Flex Fuel” charge which is a non-refundable "logistical cost" associated with our Fast Return System - 30€, which I was not told about. The biggest bunch of charlatans I have ever hired a car from. I will never be using their services again and I hope this review stops anyone else from using them.

    Sympathies - as I say in post#15 at the thread below, you are in not alone! 250,000 other unhappy Goldcar customers can't be wrong?

    why didn't you book a full/full fuel policy 115E for fuel is a hell of a lot.....115lt what make of car were you hiring......did you read the conditions when you booked
